Question If you don't use a binder, what do you use?

I'm rapidly outgrowing my little accordian organizer but not quite ready for a binder. I was wondering what others use who are also in this limbo phase. Thanks!

I file my inserts in file folders in a thirty-one organizing tote. When I'm getting ready to shop I pull inserts and clip the coupons. Any coupons, RRs, ECBs, etc. that I want to have with me all the time I keep in the little accordian file in my purse. HTH!

Before my binder I started out using business size envelopes. I organized the q's by type, like: dairy, freezer, H&B, etc. I then moved to an accordion folder which was organized by insert day with whole inserts in each pocket. I then moved to clipping coupons & putting into baseball card holders and putting into the accordion folder. Now I've moved to a binder, just transferred my baseball card holders from the accordion folder to the binder.

I use a small photo album. I has about 30 pages and it has a little strap to close it. It works great for me. I don't like the huge binders. I like that I can put mine in my purse and carry it, especially since I usually have my toddler with me.

I use several of the small photo albums... I tape an index card to the front with what category it is. I keep them all in a medium sized tote with all my couponing needs. I have a toddler, also, and it helps to be able to just pull one small album out per aisle. I tried the binder, but it was just too big and bulky for my situation.

I've got a shoebox-size Rubbermaid container with a lid. I have several envelopes inside that I use for different categories of coupons. Some of the envelopes have homemade dividers so I can have (for example) shampoo, deodorant, and soap in one envelope. This has worked well for me for years, but sometimes the envelopes get a little stuffed! Oh, and I love having a lid on the box! If I drop my box--it's happened before--they don't go all over the place.

Thanks so much for the great ideas! I can see a couple different ones working for me. It's such a help to hear what others are doing.

I found a large, saddle-bag type purse at Target (on clearance and used a Q, of course) and inside are 4, accordion files (Target $ spot).

Inside of the files are business-size envelopes with categories written on the flap. The entire purse and files fit into a plastic box and makes it very easy to file cut Qs which I know I will use. Extra inserts are filed by date in a large (legal brief) accordion file.

I use 1 of the smaller accordion files (in the purse) to hold Qs I've pulled for a specific store trip, any FREE Qs, store ads, my shopping list, store specific Qs, etc. for even more easy access and convenience. The large purse also holds other Q stuff like a small scissors, my iPhone, glasses, wallet with credit cards, GCs, etc.

This makes it easy for me to grab the purse and go shopping with a large assortment of Qs and it is super easy to grab one envelope to search through when I'm in a particular aisle trying to match up a Q with a product.

The purse fits nicely into the child seat, I can secure it with the safety strap, and it allows me to fly under the radar a little bit (not lugging around a huge binder).

Best,

LizzyBizzy

You can also use index card boxes/dividers.

I'm in between index card boxes and photoboxes/rubbermaid storage so right now I'm using some pantry 2-shelf sliding organizers that I bought about 7 years ago at Wal-mart. (Luckily they perfectly fit my 3x5 dividers so it wasn't a difficult switch).

My only suggestion is look around your house for some items that might work or get creative with stuff you may have coupons - for example - Glad, Ziploc, and Rubbermaid have plastics that are long and rectangle. Or look in a craft store like AC Moore or Michaels (again, clip the coupons from their circular for 20-50% off) for a long basket or photobox/scrapbook organizer. Christmas Tree Shops if they're in your area also sells many boxes at a lower price than the craft ones.

If you do go the index divider/card thing - check your local dollar store as they often have them for much cheaper than Staples or like store.

A friend of mine uses a mini binder she got at Staples. Its about 5" tall and holds plastic envelops that velcro closed. Each envelope is a different category.
It works great for her, she doesnt like to carry a purse or anything and she is really happy with it.

I have friends that use baby wipe containers or shoe box plastic containers. They usually make their dividers for categories.

For coupons that I've clipped, or ones printed from the net, I have an organizer that I got at Target. It's like a coupon organizer, but the size of a regular sheet of paper. I've got it divided exactly like a little coupon organizer. But since I get multiples of the paper, plus a Redplum mailing, I got an accordian style magazine organizer (also at Target.) Neither were expensive, and both work great. I'm pretty new to this, and what I have has worked out well for me. You might try taking a look at Target and seeing what they have. I think it was all in the home office section.

I dislike binders , tried them for couponing when the mead ones first came out in the late 70s I use a big box with numbered index sections. It holds a lot more in quantity of coupons and is much faster to use in the store.
