| do you ever get tired of putting deals together?
i'm so pooped out on couponing this week. i think i spent over 2 hours yesterday and today planning my walgreen's run with a $10/30 Q and now i don't even feel like going anymore. anyone else ever feel like this? i am weary of the internet searching, clippping and paper management and there weren't even any insert coupons this week!! sometimes i just feel like i'd rather be a "civilian" and not be obsessed with this! who wants to talk me down off the ledge!??? |

I get this feeling all the time! Especially with 2 little ones that make the coupon-clipping and shopping all the more difficult! But it's totally worth it. I did a $30 order at Publix the other night, and only spent $8 after coupons! And I'm loving CVS, with all the free things I get there. My DH calls my ECBs "Monopoly Money." Sometimes you just have to take a little break, and skip some deals. There will always be more. Right now, I concentrate on FAR items at Walgreens, and rolling my ECBs at CVS so they don't expire. Most of the time, I stick to free items and don't worry about trying to work out crazy deals. I didn't even bother with Walgreens today! Hope this helps!

yeah, sometimes I have that feeling...but it passes...the next time I hear about a great deal or see a CVS...and you just can't beat the rush of walking out with several bags of stuff, having paid $.60 oop and reciept full of new ECB's!!!

I've been on a CVS break for about 3 weeks now because it was getting to be too much. I am going to go on Sunday because a bunch of my ecbs expire that day, but sometimes, I just need to let a few deals go and relax about it. We are totally stocked on a lot of things and I need to focus on my kids and my house a little more and focus on getting deals a little less.

I truly try to buy only what I need or what I will use within a reasonable amount of time. At one point I was obsessed and had closets full of Tide, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. I try and limit my adventures and instead of a closet full of toothpaste I have maybe 4 or 5 tubes. Instead of buying the 20 tubes I buy a few and give the coupons to the cashiers that are nice to me and my neighbors who are having a tough time of it.

I've chilled about it since I started here. I remember 'berating' myself and being upset a few months ago because I spent $6 OOP at CVS because I didn't plan well and miscalculated etc. Then you realise you have $70 worth of stuff you never would have been able to afford before for that six bucks. Perspective is a wonderful thing. Now I don't 'plan' as much. I do most of my shopping on the fly. Yes, I do generally know what I want to buy each week in the ads, but I don't spend hours worrying about it or getting every free thing I can. I didn't even cringe and feel like an utter and complete 'failure' when I threw out expired Q's like I used to. I swear I would run myself ragged in the past making sure I took advantage of EVERY LAST ONE that I could use and get product for almost nothing. And I do that taking the bus everywhere. I didn't even finish a couple of the monthly deals last month at CVS. But you know, I have a box of 45 other deodorants, so I think we'll be just fine. *grin* Nor did I go shopping on the $10/$30 Walgreens day. *gasp* I think it's easy to get caught up in the 'high' and 'frenzy' of it and then you 'crash' and get burnt out. It's okay to take a week off. Sometimes I think we need a support group to reassure it's okay. My best Wags shopping trip was done without a plan just walking thru with my coupon file last week. I got $90 worth of stuff and paid $2.64 OOP after Q's & RR. Just remember to give yourself a break once and awhile. The deals will still be there. Really.

When that feeling hits me I know it is time to take a break for a few days or a few weeks. No one can get all of the deals all of the time.

I think I am there too, I have to go about 20 miles to a walgreen or cvs or kroger so I try to plan everything for a one time trip because of the gas, and that is just to much for 1 day. I love Krogers with the e-coupons though. By the time I got home Friday, I was exhausted and still had to fix food for our family cook out the next day. My grandchildren had already told me that the coupons had took me over...so it is time to back down some and just relaxe and enjoy them some and not worry about the expiring coupons in my book.

I think everyone feels this way at some point or another. It is VERY tiring to try to chase every deal. I know I do feel this way at least one or two days a week. I am trying to work on not feeling bothered that I missed a deal, since there is always another one! Take a break... the excitement with be that much better the next time. |

I agree, somedays I just don't feel like it. Today I went to Target to pick up a script and I didn't bother getting my free toothpaste because I had nothing else to buy. I figure before the Colgate coupon expires I will have plenty more opportunities to get there again. I also have to redo my stockpiles and determine what I don't need to stock up on. Lately, I have been obsessed with getting as many free or close to free razors that they have taken over all the other stockpiles in the linen closet. Fear not the love of chasing the next deal will come back!

Yeap, me as well. People do not realize how much time and effort it takes to keep recalculating deals, specially for CVS. There can be quite a few ways to get the lowest OOP depending on the sale. Funny thing is, for the past 2 weeks I have been dreaming about shopping at CVS the night before the first day of the sale. I know I have issues now

I took a break for a few weeks and now I am all excited to plan a CVS trip for this coming week and even made up a CVS plan for my brother. A break really refreshes you!
