| Extreme Couponing on TLC
They're turning the special into a series. What does everyone think about the "extremes" of couponing? Has anyone here gotten $600 worth for $6? I'm just curious, that's all. I've just started and most stores I frequent are far from coupon friendly & I find that a BIG discouragement from couponing, which sucks. I couldn't imagine handing over a large PILE of Qs...Maybe I just need to build up by wall LOL.

There are already several, very long threads about this show already with loads of feedback from many members here, I'd suggest going back and reading them. VERY interesting stuff

Ive not gotten $600 for $6. The last time I filled my cart with $600 worth was decades ago. Last week I got $196.00 (about) for 6.44. That was fun.

I can't wait to watch this show!! unfornutaly I just started to use coupons this year I haven't seen a huge diference in my shopping trips. But I am becoming very specific about what I buy. If I don't have a coupon its hard to consider paying the sale price when I have a feeling that there could of been a printable coupon out there. I'm interested in watching the show to find out how many coupons they use are actually printable coupons, along with how many newspapers they are purchasing. I'm getting a new brother laser printer this friday!!! I here those are the best. I found it on slick deals . net They print forever and basically when the toner light comes on it really isnt empty. There are tricks on youtube that show you how to pull the cartridge out and place clear tape over the holes located on the sides and it still prints several thousand more prints. that site also has a deal for parents magazines for $1. which is pretty good seeing they place coupons in the magazines. Barnes & Noble is offering Parents Magazine: One year subscription for $1 after entering coupon code K4M8W9D at checkout. Last edited by natalieanne12; 03-31-2011 at 07:23 AM. |

Elle - I've had the unfriendly cashiers or grumbling customers behind me more than I care to mention. I also live 2 hours from any decent store. I have found some good deals, even Great deals but none that would be $600 for only $6. I try to be considerate of the ppl in line behind me and not load up on too many items or controversial coupons. Plus I have found that some of those "savings" are worthless items to me. I don't buy alot of cleaning solutions because plain white vinegar is CHEAP and just as good. I don't buy alot of candles, smelly sprays, etc cuz my house is clean and doesn't need to be over odorized. Plus I have found that even with sales & coupons some brand name items are still more expensive than the generic, i.e. garbage bags & baby shampoo. I think the idea of "extreme" couponing is fun but unrealistic for someone like me. I can't drive to two hours to a store a few times a week to try and save a few bucks. I can't even justify driving there once a week. Plus I hear of ppl driving to multiple Wags, Targets, Walmarts, etc., so how much of your savings are you spending in gas....?? If I can save some money throughout the year then I've done my part. But I try to be realistic and not get my hopes up too much.

Weatie that is an awesome shopping trip! How did you do that? What types of coupons and store sales did you use? Which store if you do not mind answering were you at? I love hearing stories about this and trying to learn how I can also do that. I went Suday to my local kroger and the original order amount was $159.60 and then after coupons and store savings I paid $87.23! I know that was a great shopping trip, especially since I am so new to couponing, but would love to hear more about how you do your super awesome trips!!! Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!!!

I'm new, but the best I've done is ~$200 worth of groceries for ~$30. I thought that was really good. I live in an area where the only store that doubles is the highest priced one that doesn't run any good sales. I drive 45mins-1hour to get to a Publix and I stock up as much as I can when I do. I go once a week there. My shopping has changed drastically in just the 6 weeks or so that I've started this. I've only set foot in WM about 3 times.

I shop at Shoprite. We recently had dollar days hrere so some of that was OYNO cats. I looked up my post for the trip. It was actually $194 down to $6.44 I came home with $28.00 more in OYNO cats. Plus a cat for free gallon of milk on my next trip. I only shop the Free/Cheap stuff plus produce. No produce was purchased but I did get meats super cheap or free. Here is a pic of what I got.

An example might be (from last year) powerade is on sale for 77 cents a bottle and I have coupons for 75 cents off 2 ...so, i buy 8 bottles of that and some Kraft mac and cheese explosions on sale for 60 cents each and i have 55cents off 2 coupons for them and then tuna packets for $1 and I have 55 cent off coupons for those. My store allows 4 (like coupons) per transaction so I buy the limit of each of those eg: 8 Powerade, 8mac and cheese and 4 tuna and I do multiple transactions. So, i spend pennies on each transaction and stockpile tuna, mac and cheese and drinks. the next store mite have different deals etc. |

Oh yeah, I think it is very rare where you can a VARIETY of groceries -- meaning, think of a "regular" grocery store shopping trip by any non-couponing-______-______ -- for so little money. With me it is also usually a trip where I am buying multiples of items as well, where I save so much money.
