I just remember one that was not advertised, but it was a huge savings. I was at Pier One three weeks before Christmas and they had homemade soaps that were usually $2.25 each on sale for .25 each! They smelled wonderful and were a healthy soy based line. I think I bought 25 of those. Everyone I gave them to for Christmas loved them! Be sure to watch those other retail stores for clearance and sales too!

It's difficult to choose! There have been so many great deals this year. I'll start with the $6 other white meat q. I really miss that one, but I stockpiled lots of pork, KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce and cheap charcoal. I also loved a deal I got at Kroger this summer on 12 packs of Coke and Kraft shredded cheese. I pretty much got 30 packs of cheese and 12 12 packs of Coke for a total of $5. (We came home in between out of town trips and I ran to Kroger to get in on the sales. It was Saturday afternoon and they had already reset their computers for Sunday's sales on the Kraft. I got to take advantage of a $5 cat and buy 4 get one free on the cheese. I can't remember the exact details, but I caught an error in price so got my first order free and the manager OKayed the combo of both weeks sale prices).

Oh yeah!! I had forgotten about this one. I combined the free KC Masterpiece, the $2 off charcoal with the $6 off pork. Also had a couple others I used in conjunction with this one. We were stocked on charcoal all summer and still have a good supply left for next year!

OH geeze, to remember the entire year! Here goes:

PopTarts, cheap cereal, free reusable bags I think I have about 10 now that I didn't pay anything for based on coupons, Mt Dew, Kraft cheese, cheap oscar mayer bologna and hot dogs this summer, cheap/free frozen veggies, electrasol (of course)

Add on the free movies I am getting from the Kellog's movie tokens (I think we are up to 4 or 5) and 2009 was a pretty good year. I am hoping 2010 is better!

There are a few things that I stocked up that are big favorites.

Gillette Products - DH's favorite since it does not break him out

Edge /skintimate shaving gel

Poptarts - back in the fall bought 25 boxes of the 12 count for 40 cents each- all assorted flavors - still have some left - kids love them for breakfest or as a snack. Also shippped out several to military over seas.

Chinet Plates from walmart

Betty Crocker deluxe brownie mix - got 10 box for 25 cents each.

Of course anything free is my favorite. The ones I can think of right now are all the free or super cheep lip care items from Chapstick or Nivea, Edge shaving gel, Neutrogena mens face wash and Complete contact solution all from Walgreens. I have enough for me and/or my husband for probably 2 years. Yay!!!

I only started in October but have so much.... If I had to choose it would be herbal essence I have at least a 3-4 year supply and before this was the stuff I always wanted to buy and couldn't bring myself to spend $5 a bottle

I love anything free...

-but my 13 cent hormel vegetarian & turkey chili..it's my quick go to when I run out of ideas
-all my free tp, cvs brand things from their $3 off anything their brand..haven't purchased a bazillion things this year because of free cotton swabs, tp, soap, tissues, you name it
-free canned tomatoes..didn't even bother canning the ones from my garden...chili, soups, casseroles, etc..all with a base of tomatoes
-my 75 cent bags of 5#s sugar (food lion koolaid/sugar deal) & the brown sugar I think 15 cent for 2#s...bought a bunch and didn't buy for a year..pantry is still stocked up
-my continuing soy joy bars..I know some don't like..but they aren't overally sweet, make a great backpacking bar, I do manual labor and when I hit the wall...oh my goodness are they ever great to pick me back up..not junky..but can't afford at regular price
-last year's free green giant steamers and this years' birdseye steamfresh frozen veggies..buy once at no cost..coast the rest of the year for veggies, soups, casseroles, etc...again..didn't have to worry about my garden producing and cheap meals all the rest of the year..didn't want the cheese in all my veggies last year so picked out the frozen cheese lumps before cooking..then used those for mac & cheese, cheesy potato soups, etc..anywhere I DID want cheese..double savings..
-11 cent containers of plain quaker oats..I don't like the sweetened packets/unhealthy ingredients..so stocked up when bloom had triple coupons..again..buy once coasted the rest of the year..oatmeal muffins, pancakes, add to meatloaves,eat plain, create my own muesli, etc...can't beat it
-free tuna pouches, cheese sticks, etc.
-and at my favorite kroger..that loves to mark down things every week..hitting a mark down for healthy choice lunchmeat..plus double coupons for 13 cent packets of lunchmeat..froz and had months and months of supply..finally out of those..cleared out some freezer shelves and ready to restock with more birdsye veggies..

such a big blessing as last Feb my husband lost his job, has spent the whole year diligently looking, I started a job at $10 hour that doesn't even begin to pay our living expenses..great insurance, nice travel benefits..so not to have to worry about food/house supplies is such a great boon....

praying everyone else can equally find the deals, save the money, cover their hinnies or whatever you need to have extra $$ for...hoping 2010 will bless my hubby with work and all the stores/manufacturers will have a good year so they trickle down continuing deals to us!

How do you get all of this stuff for free? My husband lost his job in July and I haven't gotten a raise in 3 years, so things are getting tighter and tighter everyday. Any suggestions will help!

megja1 - keep reading and you will soon learn. Find your stores and follow the posts to find the greatest deals using your coupons. It takes some time and dedication but is so worth it.

Yeah I forgot about the free Herbal Essence - that was a great one this year! Woot!

yeah, I had forgotten about all those pork, barbecue sauce, charcoal deals..and the 100 cans, bottles and sprays of the garnier nutrisse products..and the endless supplies of johnson buddies/I love the stuff as a face wash..and the entire shopping cart of stayfree pads from Target...their $5/3 items mixed with Qs from the manufacturer..made it pennies for a pack..my teenaged son wouldn't stand any where near me when I checked out..I came home and told my daughter I had enough to get me through menopause..with a straight face she told me we had enough to get her through menopause...

of course, I just had to get the ones that were about a quarter for the jumbo pack from walgreens to give a working poor mom of teenaged daughters...I love finding great deals...found marked down dark chocolate from hersheys at a cvs..and then the buck coupons..so a quarter for the good stuff...I like to share with a guy at work who also loves dark chocolate..

but I've been couponing for a bazillion years..used to have the doubles/triples in the late 70s...along with refunding when that was big..oh, the good ole days..mostly gardened/was frugal/buy at winco where the deals every day are pretty good..until I moved across country and got hit with higher prices..so of course, had to watch the budget again..then hubby lost his job and had to really cut back.....

it doable for anyone..if I can do it working full time anyone can...although, I don't have the opportunity to chase down every deal..like our CVS gets wiped out quickly on the hot deals..no oust for me..this week..not in 5 different stores...but it's not a big deal..I just go on to something else..

and I have different price points I'm willing to pay...in Idaho/before the move I had a price book for everything I bought..had to toss that as the cost was so much higher in VA...but I won't pay more than 3 cents per load for laundry soap..if I can't find it cheaper I just make it myself..ditto for most other cleaning products..I'll buy some cleanser, bleach, vinegar, baking soda, washing soda, borax, ammonia...and use in various ways to clean...commercial things have to get cheaper than what I can make something for to have me bother to pick it up...

The key is going to the forum(s) of the store(s) you shop at and just following the advice of the sage couponers on AFC. We are all so blessed that they share their knowledge and skills. It saves us a lot of time and loads of money.
