I haven't been able to find them; I found the blinkie machines, but there are never any blinkies in them..... I did find some on the great big auction site... so maybe that is where they are going..

Probably because people are taking them and using hem at stores they were not intended to be used at. SC Johnson has to know now that they are loosing money on the glade deal at target. I assume that Target is getting them for a really good price to be able to offer the giftcard deal. The stores that the blinkies are in, like K-mart, sell them at a much higher price than $2.50 to begin with. I abouted crapped when I went to Meijer today (they don't have blnkie machines in their store at all) and saw that the holiday glass holders were $5.97 and the tins were $3.97. Just to give you a price comparison. They finally had a christmas display of them up. Wonder how long it will take for the oupon bandit to come get all of the copons out of the tins. They already got the ones of of the regular candle aisle, but the display was fresh and I noticed coupons in the tins and holders.

I never thought about that. You are right. I bet they partnered with Target for this deal never thinking that this would happen. Hmmmm. Makes you think.

I would imagine that target has a loss leader part in mind. They are undercutting the current competition and still selling at a minimal loss. However, they are inviting the regular shopper to get a gift card for target because the average person will spend more then 2.5x what they have for a gift card. Also, from a sales perspective, a gift card, even a free one is only used 80% of the time. And they include it as part of their sales for the day.

And I bet that SC Johnson would argue that you can't use the bogo blinkie and the 1.50/1 coupon together like everyone has been. Technically the BOGO is tied to both the holder and the refill and therefore one shouldn't be able to use the $1.50 off one as well. (Yet I admit that I have been using both together)

Is Target taking a loss on this because of the coupon use or because of the sale?

Because of the sale and the gc combination. There is no way SC Johnson ever thought ahead that this would happen. Target is already offering a great deal on the product without coupons. This is NOT to say that I am not doing the deal. I sure as heck am, just makes you think.

Target expects to lose because they are giving the gift cards. The gift card sale at the register registers as a $5 sale. SC Johnson is still making the same by selling them the product. Target takes the up front loss but still makes out in the long run because of return shoppers. (And unused gift cards) An unused gift card is a pure profit sale and a used one is worth more in most cases since most people will spend way more than the $5.00. Not us couponers of course.

I agree...everytime i go in i come out with extras stuff....sometimes stuff i need sometimes not! yesterday it was diapers and milk.... the day before two clearnaced infant shirts......i think they will still come out a winner!

I've taken so many blinkies from Publix, Kmart and Sweetbay! There's always plenty more in the machines, though I must admit that I'm just about "Glade-ed" out. I've been going to Target everyday for a week and have around 100 Xmas glass holders, tins and refills. I'm tired and have lots of GC's to spend. Time to pass the Glade deal torch onto to someone else in my area!

Same here. Today it was a clearanced toy, produce and candy. Other days it was clothes and baby formula(with coupon, of course!). There's never a time I went in there and only got the Glade.

Junking- NOPE. They are a Manu coupon. They can be used ANYWHERE coupons are accepted. So if you get a coupon from say, Publix, you can walk across the street and use it at Target.

Right, but "9" coupons beep at WalMart and Rite Aid but not at Winn Dixie. Where as "5" coupons do not so I was just wondering how that played out at Target.
