So this morning on Good Morning America they did a story on a couponing mom! She only spends 4 dollars a week on her groceries for a family of 6! Wow...I thought my 50 for a family of 5 was good! (And by the way...if this lady is on AFC...I would love to hear from you!!!!!)

Anyway...I actually learned a new trick that I hadn't thought of. She has her meat cut into small enough portions so that she can use coupons to make each package free or cheap. The problem is, I rarely find meat coupons. Do any of you have tips or tricks to finding meat coupons?

the last time I found meat coupons was on ebay. The seller sold them in batches of 20 x $2 off any meat for 9.99. They came from a Spanish paper in their area. I DO NOT buy any IPs on ebay but if they are winetags or coupons cut from newspapers/magazines I buy them if the price is right.

I used them at the grocery store where I know the butcher who not only gave discounts on meat that had to be sold on X date but also made packages for me that were just a little over $2. Then I used my receipts to submit for lots of wine/beer meat rebates. The rebates paid for the cost of coupons so I got a freezer full of meat that were cheap, if not free

I haven't found many meat coupons. I mostly use the beer rebates to get my money back for some of the meat I buy. Sometimes certain brands of meat have coupons but certainly not enough to make them free.

I just found $1.00 off any Pork, yesterday! I usually do not find many though.

I use wine tag coupons almost every time I shop!

It does take a bit of time to track down the coupons, but they are some of the best coupons out there!

Last night I found $1 pork coupons, just sitting next to the pork. There had to be at least 10 full tearpads of coupons and I think I'm the only person who saw them! HELLO fellow KC shoppers...right next to the meat you just picked up. LOL *I was shopping in a more...I guess you would say...richer neighborhood...but...I like to save my $$$. *

What they didn't explain in the clip is that she used catalina coupons from PREVIOUS transactions to pay for some of her groceries (that was what the $5 off coupons at the end were)....so I wonder if that's the whole story, I mean did she get those cat coupons without spending any money OOP? Either way, i would say she did well...but she did skip over the fresh fruit/veggies section...I don't know, but its a must in my family to have fresh produce.

These are the ones I found too, right next to the meat, not one had been taken off!!

I can NEVER find winetags, where do you find most of yours or do you purchase them?

Not necessarily. There are plenty of beer rebates that do not require you to buy any beer but you do have to watch as they are not always good in all states. Or there are some where you have to buy beer in some states but not in others.

I don't find wine tags so I don't know if they require wine purchase or not. I have traded for a couple that do not require wine purchase.

In lots of states you don't have to buy the beer/wine, such as in MN to get the discount on beer/wine tags and rebates/

I have found meat qs quite often at cub in the meet section, or become friendly with the butcher guys/gals and ask them. One day they were handing out $1 off any black anges beef, I went and talked to the guys in the meat department and asked to have a few more as "I am a loyal meat buyer from their store" (sometimes ) and he gave me 20 more!!!! I was hoping for 5!!!!! (That was during national beef month) (and yes i do ocassionally have to buy beef when we are running low)

Also, it is national pork week so look for good specials this week and next on pork (and coupons of course)!!!! Hence why people are posting about finding pork qs and deals this week! Stock up on those good buys!

Another place I find cheap meat is my walmart in the mornings after they have just marked down some items. My walmart marks items down usually 2 days before the date on the package. (sometimes up to 40%) I buy them up like a crazy lady (giggle giggle) and throw them right in the freezer. (I buy mostly pork and chicken as we raise our own beef)

The next best idea, if you have the freezer room is to find a local rancher (or talk to your local meat locker to have him help) and buy a quarter or half of beef at a time and have it processed how you want. This is still often cheaper than the grocery store per pound, you can get it processed how you want, and You know where it came from (and maybe even who raised it!!!) This is a great idea for beef and hogs! We raise our own beef, but we have locals call us all the time for beef too. We also buy most of our pork this way too. You will be surprised if you talk around, how many people actually do this!!!!

This is what I do for my meat purchases, since I rarely find meat q's. I do all my other grocery shopping for the week first, then go back and use all my catalina's for meat. Most of the time it works out really well, depends on the week.
