| Question about DO NOT Double coupons?
I never understood why certain coupons, put do not double or triple on the coupon. It's not like the manufacturers are out anything. Is there a reason that I don't know of? And if so, why do they still start the barcode with "5" instead of "9" if they truly did not want it doubled? Anyone have any insight to share?

I know that Kroger will not double a coupon with the "9", regardless of what the text on the coupon says. Publix will double it (under 50c) no matter what for now. I don't know what the big deal is, either, and have always wanted to know.

For the first part of it, I think that yes the manufacturers do pay for the doubling or at least part of it. I think I've read that the stores that double work out a deal with the manufacturer's so they get reimbursed more. I'm not sure if its the full doubled value or not. As to why start it with a 5 I've wondered that myself. Maybe the mfg is hoping you will use it anyway in hopes that it will double and since it is a DND the mfg doesn't need to reimburse the store for the doubing? If so thats pretty sneaky of them. |

Thanks, I would have never thought that Manu would reimburse stores even more. But very interesting.
