To other newbies like myself, you can sign up at red plum (sorry don't know how to do all the links and such) to get their coupons in the mail. I signed up today. This should help those of us that are building our coupon base and resources. Seasoned couponers probably already know this tidbit. Anyway, I think it said like 6-8 weeks before I would start receiving them.

Ditto. I signed up months ago and nothing. I think it said only if they are available in your area??

I never signed up to get them, however they come in the mail on Wednesdays with the CVS flyer automatically. I should consider myself lucky!

Well, I've spent the last 2 hours on the phone between newspapers and red plum/valassis, and finally found out that at least in my area (Gloucester, VA) we will still be getting our coupie inserts!! Red Plum was little or no help, basically giving me the run around. I called 3 different times, hoping to get someone who would actually help me. I was told "it's up to the paper, not us" LIE and let's not forget the ever-popular "well, just go to the web site and print them yourself". Why, what a novel idea....printing coupons on line....wish I had thought of that!! Bottom line is, the marketing manager at The Daily Press was AWESOME. I explained our concern, and he immediately asked for my info so he could get the answer and call me back. And, 15 minutes later, he actually did!! He also sent me a copy of the Valassis market list for 2009. Check to see if you're on it...if not, at least you'll know what paper to subscribe to!

That is great!! I get two papers and one sends them and one doesn't. I don't mind so much since one paper still has them.

Also, he informed me that they were not scheduled to have any in this week's Sunday paper, due to the fact that there had been several inserts over the last couple weeks, but not to worry.

Remember, if you find that you have a subscription with a paper that no longer carries the inserts, cancel your script, get your money back and subscribe to one that's on the list!

Okay, just to clarify - if your paper isn't on that list, you won't be getting the RedPlum insert, correct?

That's what the marketing manager @ daily press told me....but check it CAREFULLY....I found VA papers in several areas....

Thank you for the info. I had a hard time trying to find my papers (if they are there) can anyone else see Southern Illinoisan or Evansville Courier on there? I don't get any "major" papers, just those two. It would be a shame if they didn't offer it here anymore!

Is Red Plum reducing the # of papers it provides coupons for? In my area, we have not been getting the Smartsource inserts since the first of the year. I was told it was because of a small population!!!!!!! We have been getting the Smartsource inserts for ATLEAST 5 years! What is happening? I miss the Smartsource so much, it usually has the best coupons for us. There are no other papers that I can subscribe too either!

I've seen the list.

I must point out one thing. There are full-size RP inserts and there are "mini" RP inserts. I know this from first hand experience. The Washington Post, which had RP until February, had the full-size inserts, while our little local mid-week paper had the "abridged' version, which was about half the size.

So, if you are looking for RP, and change your newspaper subscriptions, be sure you know what you're getting!

I have been on the phone myself the last 2 days, contacting Vlassis (RP), newspapers, & companies that promote their Q's in the RP insert. I am outside of the Cleveland, OH area. I also had gotten the run around from Vlassis, they told me the same thing, "that it was the newspaper" yet then told me their reasoning for doing this was to be able to reach more consumers/homes by mailing the inserts. However, when I requested to be added to the mailing list I was told that I was unable to be added because I live outside of the local Cleveland area??? I then said well how can you tell me that you want to reach more consumers/homes by mailing the inserts when I am unable to be added to the mailing list???? She basically then said well, I don't know what to tell you, bye & hung up!!! And I know exactly what you mean about the "mini" version of RP, this is my dilemma, I live between the Akron & Cleveland, OH area & the Akron Beacon is still continuing to carry the RP insert, however it is the "mini worthless version" that does not even contain 1/4 of the Q's! This is why I would purchase the Cleveland Plain Dealer (multiples) for the "complete" version of RP which now has been pulled & now I am unable to even receive it in the mail. I am just so mad about this. So, I have been calling the companies that market their Q's in the RP insert. So far I have been in contact with L'Oreal, Quaker, & Unilever. They have all been very responsive. They are sending some Q's to me as well as forwarding this concern to their respective marketing departments. I have already been contacted by someone (I have given each company my name, addy & phone #)from Quaker's marketing dept., they are very upset about this & had said that they have had other complaints about this & are definitely looking into it & very much appreciate the feedback & absolutely want to continue to have my product loyalty. I don't know what will come of all of this but I think if we all continue to voice our concern to them maybe a change will be made. IDK, but as far as I am concerned, I think the companies need to be made aware of this. I have explained to them that we are a family of 5 & with the current state of the economy I absolutely have to use Q's in order to be able to afford their products that my family uses & enjoys (I also threw in there how much we REALLY REALLY love their products) & without those Q's I don't know that I will be able to continue to purchase their products. I also told them that my product loyalty should not have to be affected over a poor decision on Vlassis/RP's part & that I am sure they don't want to see the negative impact it will bring to their business as this change is affecting many areas/consumers who share the same feelings as I do. As I said they were very receptive so lets hope for the best!

i cant tell if the clevland plain dealer will keep having this or not...it just says general mail in cleveland ohio...hmmmmmm...guess i will have to get the toledo blade...if not---I am on the phone with them now...

I am lucky enough that my small city has 2 papers. I used to buy them both, but when I noticed Red Plum missing from one a few times, I stopped buying that newspaper. Now I stick with the one who gives me all the coupons . Cheryl

Don't fool yourself....it's going to hit your market too!!! It's slowing spreading from East to West. Contact those manufacturers listed on there with the form letter we created.

*as a bonus, the manufacturers are sending sympathy coupons

Valassis has pulled their RedPlum coupon inserts from major cities in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Utah, Virginia, Washington, D.C., North Carolina, Maryland, and Texas

It's spreading from East to West...
