Expiration Dates??? Cinderella couponer...
Wondering if anyone knows who/how reads/catches the expiration date on coupons? If the cashier misses it, then register catches it, right? Check out my story and see what you think? I ended up at Safeway much later than planned last night. Part of the reason was to use a couple of expiring Q's (free Crystal Light for one...). So, I'm racing against the clock to make it to the register before midnight, wow, just like Cinderalla LOL, because I'm thinking at midnight it won't be 8/31 anymore and there goes my free Crystal Light. Only getting a few things, but still time is very short and you can't get through the aisles, they are busy stocking like crazy. And to top it off it's not my regular Safeway, so I'm already slowed down. Looks like there's only one humongous line and I know I'll never be checking out before midnight. All of a sudden a line with only one person appears, my heart is racing, I think it might work out. Guy in front of me is finished and it's 11:56, iffy, but possible, my checker is the speediest of the speedy (really she would win the checker Olympics hands down, gold medalist all the way), Yahoo, I think I'm going to make it. Hip hip hooray, all coupons good. $59.45 worth of groceries for $16.78 YAY!!!
But, here's my question...as I looked at my receipt I see that the date time stamp is 9/01/08 00:00, so I actually ended the tranaction at midnight (talk about cutting it close...), so if it's scanned before the expiration it's good, even if you roll into the expiration before finishing transaction? Not that I plan to make a lot of these last minute trips...but ya never know.....Curious to know if anyone else has experienced this.....
