The bodega on the corner, my Mom, my sisters, the diner. Or on Sunday afternoons when I return to NYC all over Penn Stations. Man people sure do litter! Now I'd like to sing a rousing version of my favorite Sesame Street song. "These are the people in my neighborhood, in my neighborhood, in my neigh-eigh-eigh-borhood...". Also if there's a particular product that I love or anyone in my family loves I'll buy a quantity of them on Ebay. Can usually pick up 15+ copies of a particular coupon on Ebay for 99cents plus 37cents shipping. The best part - they are already cut out. Oh how I hate CLIPPING coupons. I swear I have carpal tunnel from the frackin' scissors. Lyrics: The People In My Neighborhood Oh, who are the people in your neighborhood, In your neighborhood, in your neighborhood. Say who are the people in your neighborhood-- The people that you meet each day? Oh, the postman always brings the mail Through rain or snow or sleet or hail. I'll work, and work the whole day through To get your letters safe to you. TCause a postman is a person in your neighborhood, In your neighborhood, he's in your neighborhood. A postman is a person in your neighborhood-- A person that you meet each day. Oh, a fireman is brave it's said. His engine is a shiny red. If there's a fire anywhere about. Well, I'll be sure to put it out! Cause a fireman is a person in your neighborhood, In your neighborhood, he's in your neighborhood. And a postman is a person in your neighborhood-- Well they're the people that you meet When you're walking down the street They're the people that you meet each day!

~Breakfast places Sunday AM (bagel & fast food) have inserts laying around. ~Hotels that give complimentary copies. I was at a hotel and the guy at the desk was pulling the coupons from the free copies! I mentioned it and he said "they mess up the place since no one wants them and I give them to a friend who is always asking.) I ran into the newspaper people at the recycle bin in WM parking lot! I asked if they had any Sunday papers and I have been getting 50-75 of each insert Monday afternoons ever since! I take them a big bag of freebies every Monday so it works well for both of us! Because those of you that know me know I can use 200+ of the gum coupons! (hint, hint :happydanc ) At first I checked the bins 2-3 times a week. Then I chased down my paper man but he never seemed to have more than 5 extras. I would give him $5-10 worth of stuff so it wasn't paying off. ORGANIZING~ I have a coupon organizer in my purse with a few of each. I also have a smaller one that is store specific. So I pull the coupons I will need at Walgreens in the next 10 days and put them in WG's. I used a plastic shoebox for overflow. Then I graduated to a photo organizing box I got at a craft store. It is like a little suitcase and twice the size as the ld box. I file unclipped inserts in hanging files by date. It is work, but it is so much fun matching the coupon to the sale and getting 90%+ off on your stuff!

AS I work in a dog kennel and we use 2-3 bundles of paper a day, I get my papers from the route guy..the one that delivers to stoers & Gas Station, He has to pick up all unsold copies each day and dispose of them. I pick them up at his house each week....you can catch them early delivering papers to gas station ECT at 5:00-6:00 AM. The Early bird gets the worm ![]()

A parent of one of my students works for our local paper. I asked her why a residential carrier would have tons of extras. Her reply? "They don't." After talking to her, I have narrowed it down to A) many ppl are NOT getting their papers (b/c he isn't delivery - he's just recycling) B) he's not 'just' a residential carrier but possibly in charge of delivering TO the residential carriers. However if B was the case, why would he choose to recycle at some itty bitty dumpster instead of back at the newspaper plant? Unless the plant is just too far away for him. Don't know the answer to that one. I've written off A as the case b/c I can't imagine scenario A would still be in existence after 8+ months. I'd think if he wasn't delivering, there'd be complaints and he'd be fired. |

My DH delivered the Sunday paper for 15 years. He had just enough (if he was lucky) to deliver his route. Almost every Sunday they gipped him and he had to buy more papers from a store. It was ridiculous. Then he had to fight them for the money back. He would never take any inserts out for me even from the tightwads in the huge houses who didn't tip him. I can't imagine him doing it now with the price of gas. How can anyone be making any money? D

Do stores have to return their papers somewhere to get credit or something? I asked at Starbucks once, and the guy said that he has to give them back, so I couldn't pick up the inserts. ???
