| juicy juice! grossed out!
my dd has been drinking this! this morning i noticed mold in the container! it looks like slugs! i hope she dont get sick! shes staying home from school today with hubby because she was sick earlier,i just emailed juicy juice,omg ive never seen this b4 with juice,i just bought it,exp mar 22 2010,check your juicy juice...

EWWW~THat is gross! Are the slug like things moving??!! Please call corporate and keep us informed- would love to know the outcome of this one! Hope your DD gets to feeling better!

 Try to have her drink lots of water. I wander what caused it in the bottle. Def. save at least the label of the can or container for the #s so the lot can be researched. Hope your lil one feels better. |

no the thing is not moving,but its really gross looking, when i emailed them i gave all the #s off the container,dd is feeling better this afternoon,thank god..that scared me,i have not heard anything back yet..ill keep ya posted when i do.

Your description almost sounds like the 'mother' that forms when you make vinegar- they can look very slug like. Had you been using from the bottle? How long was it open for? I had it happen one time with lemon juice concentrate- I didn't notice it until the end because it was in a plastic squeeze bottle instead of typical glass jar. By then, it had been added & well cooked with a lot chicken I was making up for the freezer, which we ate without incident (I wasn't throwing several pounds of chicken breast away). Do a search on Google images for ""vinegar mother" and see if that looks close, as it may help the company figure what happened. As what to do when you find a food product may have been contaminated, I know for allergy reason in particular, you need to keep the what is left in its package. And if you have any more from the same lot, keep that also until you contact the company & the FDA, if needed. They can tell you if its okay to freeze the item to keep if they may want to run any test on it or anything. |

i just got a phone call from nestle the lady said that this will not make a person sick,and she was very nice..she explained that somehow thru handling it could of been punctured or air got into it somehow,and thier sending me a q for for value of product and extras,not sure what the extras are,but thier also tracking that batch to be sure theres no more out there,and it is perfectly safe,im so glad they called to ease my mind...i feel alot better and dd seems to be fine..so all is good.

That happened with a jug of Pedialyte once when my DS was little. I felt so bad about giving it to him after I noticed the mold! I just threw it out and opened a new bottle.

Yeah it makes you realize how much we don't worry about food safety. We just kinda assume everything is fine! But it is really scary how easily something can make you sick!

makes sense...juicy juice is not full of preservatives and artificial stuff, so they depend on seal this can also happen if juice is open in fridge for a while

so sorry this happened. i've had it happen with milk on 2 seperate occasions...dont ever buy milk from a gas station. both times it looked fine and wasnt expired, but when opened and went to pour it...eeewww i about got sick. i'm glad you got it all resolved and your dd is good to go.
