I sent an email to Colgate about Colgate Wisps, a new disposable toothbrush product.

I asked them why they have invented disposable toothbrushes in a time when so many people are trying to use fewer disposable products, create less paper and plastic waste, etc.

They responded with an envelope full of Information on how their company is environmentally friendly, how I can save energy in my home, and a pack of coupons, including

They said one Wisp toothbrush is made of 50% recycled plastic and is made of less plastic than one fast food plastic fork. I still don't think I will buy any Wisps, but I appreciate the extra coupons!

That's a nice response! I agree that I won't be buying disposable toothbrushes anytime soon, although for some travelers I guess I can see the need. Airports or where you don't want to be packing up a wet toothbrush. I also like that it sounds like they actually thought about it and had a response about the recycled content as well as the plastic fork comparison.

I am very happy that you asked about that. I thought the same thing, actually me and my daughter (the Green Queen) just had that conversation. Glad that did put thought into that and used recycled material.

Very interesting. I bought some, but never used them. I think for traveling it is a good idea,tho.

Ha Ha! you gals must have girls... I carry the Wisps in my car for my son. Boys are gross and you always have to ask if they brushed. Both my boys were like that... now I carry them for my youngest son because he has braces - he can scrub away the goop after eating and throw it away. They're small enough to carry in a purse or pocket.
