So today I went to get some last minute deals at Bi-lo on the Kraft BBQ sauce, ketchup, Del-Monte Vegetables, etc. etc.
I read on AFC that the Kraft BBQ sauce (BOGO) had peelies for either .30 or .35 making them FREE after they doubled. Even if they weren't FREE I was kinda excited because they rang up at .75 each! I thought this was a good time to stock up for summer. Anyway, I see a HUGE display of Kraft BBQ sauce at the front which by the way had every single peelie TORN OFF! I thought "ok ok No big deal, I'll just go to the aisle where they are and look there!" I get to the aisle where there are at least 100 or more bottles and ALL of the peelies have been pulled off of them. SO, there was a guy stocking the bottom shelf and I politely asked why do these bottles look used while I am and he then says "OH they had coupons on them" (INSIDE I WAS FUMING!) I said Who took the coupons off? He said my boss says we have to because they are on Sale! So I was heading down the aisle onto another one and a guy passes by me and out of the corner of my eye I saw his name tag, I wasn't looking at his name but above his name was "KRAFT"! I was thinking "BINGO", instead To make a long story short, I asked Jeff(kraft guy), Who took the peelies off of the Kraft BBQ sauce? and he tells me he doesn't know anything about it. So i show him my 7 bottles and he said maybe a customer did it. I told him to follow me and when I showed him all of the bottles he started sweating, litterally. I told him about asking the guy that stocked the shelves and he said they don't want the customers to get them for free or very cheap do they? I said NO. So what happened to the coupons? Jeff and I don't know! However, He filed a report with his boss on the phone right in front of me. His boss told him to give me the 800 number and to report it to Kraft's corporate office because they needed the serial numbers, name of the store, address, phone number, etc...
So I get home and call the 800 number and boy was I glad. I told her the story and she took all of the information. She tells me that it is ILLEGAL to remove any coupons from products regardless of a sale or the final price of the item. They can have products removed from their shelves permanently if the manufacturer can prove the q's were removed and/or the q's are reimbursed to the grocery store without being used by the consumers.
In conclusion, I am not trying to get anything for FREE that would be at the cost of someone else but I DO NOT think that it is right for Bi-LO to take manufacturer coupons off of products for any reason!!! I don't believe for one second that they threw the coupons in the trash can. They are getting reimbursed plus s&h. Therefore they could have let the consumer use the discount! Tell me what you think about this! I love honest people

Just a little FYI: other Bi-Lo stores (30 mins from my town) have the peelies on their bottles and the same sale!!! AFC users have reported them on theirs as well...

Geez! The manufacturer's put peelies out there to entice people to buy their products! I'm sure they don't appreciate the store removing them and decreasing their sales!

Meat Manager @ my BiLo walked me over to the bbq sauce and told me about the deal. There were peelies on every single bottle and I heard him telling all the cutomers in his meat department about what a great time to stock up. He probably sold more meat too!

The first week they were giving catalina back on the Kraft bbq I had .75 coupons from the inserts. So I took the peelies off when I got home. Next time I didn't have any more coupons, so I used the peelies from the last time, which is good because someone had removed the ones from the bottles on the shelves. They still had the sticky part but no peelie.

My dh works for Bi-lo and there was an e-mail sent from corporate instructing them to remove the peelies off of all kraft bbq sauce. I'm glad I got my 100+ bottles before the e-mail came out!!

It was hit and miss for me. I was able to use the peelies, but needed to take them off of a different flavor bbq sauce because they were taken off the flavor I wanted to purchase. I just went tonight and there were still a fair amount of peelies left on the bottles. That is really an awful thing to do to the consumer and manufacturer, where is your Bilo, if you don't mind me asking?

Plus dh said his manager did throw all of the q's in the dumpster I told him he should have got in there and got them out for me since they were removing them from the bottles....he looked at me like I had lost my mind!!

Well it all depends on if you can prove the store did it or if a shopper did it.
Now i can understand if you have a full endcap full and all the peelies gone.
Then i would say ya the store did it, but if there are only several gone i am sure a shopper did it.
What you did was right, i would have reported them too

But to the one person that said its wrong to take it off anything if you aren't buying it. That can turn into a debate. I think we all agree to disagree on this one. There is no set rule about a peelie, no law or nothing. You do what you think is right. If you take peelies so be it Good for you If you dont well you are missing out LOL

They were taken off at my store also. I questioned it also because I picked up a bottle that had sticky junk all over it and put it back picked up another and it had the same thing, so I looked at all of them to see if something was spilled on them, well it looked like they all had stickies so I complained to the manager she said she didn't know how that happend and she complained to her boss earlier because she was going to buy some also. HMMMMMMMM. What happened here?

I would report it to Kraft 800-323-0768. The lady that I talked to said she would send me some coupons to make up for it!



EVERY bottle had the peelies gone. The guy stocking the shelf admitted that he took them off. He was stocking the shelf with the peelies already gone. It was not a customer. And I NEVER take peelies off of items that I am not purchasing.



Yeah the store took them off so we couldn't get them for free! Just doesn't make any sense why some stores are doing it and others aren't. I know LIfe isn't fair but NEITHER is this ECONOMY!!!!!!!!!!


I got his first and last name and I reported it to Kraft! And if (Bi-lo)corporate sent an email to all stores, Kraft will find it out! I also uploaded and sent pics to Kraft for proof of how the shelves looked with ALL of the peelies gone!

I think that is way wrong. I can see taking one peelie, but all the bottles!! Wow.
At my H.T. that is always happening, I check the items all the way in the back and sometimes will find a peelie . ON a funny note the Tidy Cat litter has these stickers on them that look like coupons but just is announcing a better smell, and can you imagine 2 were taken off and a few looked like people tried to peel it off sheesh.

Bi-LO took the Peelies off of ALL the bottles in the entire store so that we couldn't use them. The Kraft bbq was already on sale and they didn't want us to get more discount by using the coupons!

Two stores in Columbia, SC had removed their peelies. It had to be the store, a customer would have never had the time to remove hundreds of coupons without being noticed. I have wondered if Bilo was turning in the coupons for credit without the customer getting the credit. Bilo would be in big trouble for that kind of fraud. Surely they would know better!

I got the peelies off a few of the bottles that I got the other day. I didn't think about them being doubled...duh! I just used the other qs that I had from Kraft. It looked like not all the bottles had peelies on them, but I wasn't looking closely. I am still so new I didn't know to look.

I had a great experience with our Bi-Lo here in Marion, NC - they have awesome customer service. I can't believe that Bi-Lo corporate would do that! ACK!
