I had a pretty good video of one of these cats in our back pasture and it burned in the house. Game and Fish viewed the video and still denied it's existence!

I live near the area where this lion was killed. This is scary to me. Wednesday my MIL told me that my SIL and BIL were bailing hay in the bottoms and BIL found a deer that had been killed and was still fresh. He said it looked like a CAT had killed it and had attempted to cover it up with the tall grass. One ear was mauled off, and a chunk was ate out of its breast. They got scared and got out of there quick. They were afraid it was watching them since the deer was obviously a fresh kill.

I had a run in with a panther when i lived in MO although G&F say they are not in Mo either. It was pretty scary. I was out at the wood pile one night getting wood for the wood stove, here i am bent over loading wood into my arms and i hear this scream sounded like a woman screaming and there is this BIG black cat not 50 feet in front of me!!! I dropped my arm load of wood and took off running towards the house. I never went to get wood from the wood pile in the dark after that!!

last year my husband killed a deer and he came up to the house to get the 4 wheeler to haul it up..now he had already checked the deer and had already cut it's throat, when he and my son got down there, the deer was gone......there was a blood trail straight up the side of the mountain and the grass and stuff was all bent down where something had drug that deer right up it! A few months after that my palomino was attacked, she had claw marks all the way from her mane to her hind end, game and fish said coyotes...yeah, sure, coyotes jumped on my horse's back and clawed her like that! Oldest son and hubby were in the back pasture shooting armadillos one night, apparently they got between big momma cat and her dinner, hubby said he had always heard stories about being so scared the hair would raise on your neck, he said that was the first time his really did, he and son could not run fast enough. Yes, they do have horrible screams, I have heard htem on the mountain before, sounds like someone is killing a woman...it will give you chills and is the most horrible scream you will ever hear. only time I ever got close to one in the wild is a place called Hurricane Hollow, about 25 miles north of me, it's a very deep hollow and hubby and I were deer hunting at the bottom, our 4 wheeler bottomed out and we broke the oil pan, we had to walk out, half way up the hollar, a cat was sitting on a huge rock above us, her tail was hanging over the edge, she had seen us and I guess she opted to hold very still and watch us...I was very scared and started to protest to hubby about walking by, I just knew she would jump on us...he wanted me to be quiet and kept pushing me, ugh I was literally about to soil myself, we walked on by and then got out of there as fast as we could. When we got to the top hubby was all frustrated with me because I was making noise and upsetting the cat...I was like "hey, the cat upset me" I knew what he meant, I just really almost panicked down there and I know that's the worse thing you can do. We were a good 60-75 feet form her but it was like she was right on top of me, I was scared, very scared.

Once when I was in high school, my friend and I hiked up to a glacier about an hour outside of Denver to see this "false sunrise" early in the morning. It's about a 40 minute hike, and for the last couple minutes, I was lagging behind a little. Right as we got to the lake at the base of the glacier, I heard this snapping sound and turned around to see a mountain lion about 15 feet away from me. I don't know if it was stalking us or if it was sleeping up there and we startled it, but in any case it scared the crap out of me! I kind-of yelled for my friend, and the lion ran off, but it was weird to see something that big so close. It was only about half the size of the one in the pics above, but I am still scared to go camping. I have gone a few times a year, but I hate every minute of it. We came across a fox in the foothills above Boulder about a year ago, and my DH still makes fun of my reaction. I filpped out thinking it was going to get us! I felt like such a fool, but the only thing I could think of was that stupid lion!

Kelly Marie, good thing she probably wasn't hungry, 60 - 70 feet is about 5 - 10 feet to one of those cats!...I was getting goosebumps just READING your ordeal! Good thing your hubby understands their nature and knew what to do!

HI I'm in ARkansas too and my dad actually has worked for the AGFC for about 20 years . I'm still suprised at the bears, alligators, and mountain lions every time he tells me about ones. I really didn't realize how many alligators there are here.
