I know ~ we get days and days warning. I lived in HI when Iniki came through. We went to bed thinking it wasn't headed anywhere near us ~ woke up at 5 AM to air raid sirens! There is no weather channel in HI (you honestly don't need it!) So we turned on a local channel and they said it was headed straight for the islands! We lived on the 12 floor ~ can't board windows there! I went into work at 5:30 ~ hours before normal opening time. We were selling TV's, flashlights, batteries, radios, tape (for non-boardable windows) any food and beverage items we had. It was just crazy! By 10 we all left and locked the place up and headed home. You watch what it is doing and what it did to the place before you. Spielberg was vacationing on Kwai at the time. He had people duct tape him to a tree and he videotaped it all! That island was flattened, 10 months later then only had 10% of the rooms for tourists ready. Most of the footage he shot got used in Twister.

I have,in nashville about 10 years ago and I seriously thought we were going to get hit by another one the other night.I put everyone in the storage room and went in the garage for a minute.It started hailing,then It got quiet and started raining real hard,but the wind wasn't blowing hard enough to be a threat.I still went in the storage room because you just never know.We had to go to franklin yesterday and I did see one house that had a few trees on top of It on hwy.96 right at the natchez trace bridge.Close to the house was a strip of uprooted trees,but we didn't see any other damage anywhere around.
