| Deer ate garden
While on vacation at Great Wolf Lodge the deer ate our garden up. Some nosy person unplugged the electric fence and forgot to plug it back in so the animals had a field day. They did leave the corn, nipped at tomatoes. I am replanting okra and squash. I was able to dig up the potatoes and turnips because they were underground but their leaves were gone. I planted broccoli and brussel sprouts for the first time and they were so close to making. all that was left was a thick, sturdy stalk. chewed to a nub of course. My sil gifted us with some cantaloupe slips. Now the deer keep coming and going and breaking the electric fence. We are repairing almost daily.

Plant anything with a strong pungant smell or a bitter taste along the fenceline and the deer shouldn't bother you. (sage, milkweed, asparagus fern, boxwoods, oregano, jasmine, marigolds)

I had a ladie tell me to get some mountain lion, tiger, or wild cat poop and put around the garden and deer would get a far away look. She said to contact the zoo. LOL I do not know if they will do that but I sure want to ask.
