40 pounds of strawberries how do I freeze

I want to freeze the on a single layer on a cookie sheet, then bag them up.
now my ?

do I wash before ?

do I sprinkle with sugar ?

When I do it I slice them sugar them and put them in a freezer bag.
Are you leaving them whole??
What are you using them for??
I think that you can sugar them either way.

I was going to freeze them whole, to use as fronzen snacks, smoothies.

do you rinse them first ??? , I heard at one time not to .

you dont wash them after you take stem off but before is ok
i would not put sugar if you just want to use them for smoothies... but for sure is used as topping or for cheesecake...

I rinse mine first.

Then pat dry.... sort of let them sit for a bit on the sheet on the table to dry some more.

The more dry they are, the less ice you will have on them.

Put sheet in freezer -- make sure berries are on wax paper= easier to take them off to bag after they freeze.

Once frozen, bag them up.

If cookie sheet won't fit in your freezer, try using plates or long tupperware lids. (My cookie sheets wouldn't fit in my freezer due to lack of room -- I used plastic plates and bigger tupperware lids, both lined with wax paper, to freeze the strawberries)

I always slice mine and put them in a light sugar syrup and when they thaw the juice is so good over shortcakes
