| Has anyone tried Patio Blueberries?
There was an insert in the coupon section the other week for Patio Blueberries (blueberries you grow in a container on your deck/patio). I wondered if anyone has tried these? I am new to gardening and last year did my first garden ever! It was easy to do and great to have fresh produce. However, I only did vegetables and would love to have fruit! The blueberry plants are $8.99 each, or $7.99 for 2 or more. Then you have to pay $2.50 shipping. I just wondered if you thought it was worth it or if I should just buy fresh/frozen blueberries at the grocery store. Thank you in advance!!

sorry. I've seen the ad too, but have never ordered it. I know my mom bought a couple of blueberry plants from the local nursery and planted them in her yard and the next year yeilded berries (of course she bought the plants at a more mature stage). The man said that she could plant them in large containers for the yard too, so I would imagine that you can do the same. I mean, buying from a local nursery and planing them in a container that sits on your patio ...at least you wouldn't be out of shipping charges and if you have any questions, a quick call to your local nursery will surely be more helpful than trying to get help from the mail order dealer ... Atleast that's what I've always thought every time I've seen those ads.

I bought a container blueberry plant a few years ago & it's done nothing....I wonder if 2 are needed so they cross pollinate, maybe?

well, this seems to me a really good video on blueberry container instructions. It's from the Nature Hills nursery web site and seems pretty easy to follow. Planting Blueberries In A Container - Helpful Gardening Tips Hope it helps! Sher
