| For all of those OM hot dogs we stocked up on... Sauced Dogs Hot dogs are cooked with a homemade tangy sauce. Cook Time: 20 minutes Ingredients: 1 pound hot dogs 2 tablespoons melted butter 1 can (10 1/2 ounces) tomato soup 1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar 3 tablespoons water 3 tablespoons vinegar 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 small onion, thinly sliced 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper hot dog buns Preparation: Score hot dogs on the diagonal at 1-inch intervals. In a large skillet, brown hot dogs lightly in melted butter. Stir in tomato soup, brown sugar, water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and onion. Cover and simmer hot dogs in sauce for 10 minutes. Add green bell pepper; cover and cook 5 minutes longer. Serve saucy hot dogs in toasted and split hot dog buns. Saucy hot dogs serve 4 to 6. If you have a recipe - post it here. I am swimming in dogs!!! |

We made what we called Wienie Roll Ups when i was a kid. We took a biscuit and smushed it (technical term). Then cut the hot dog in half and then sliced into in long wise, put a slice of cheese in the slit. Put the hot dog in the biscuit and roll it. Seam side down and bake according the biscuit can instructions.

Ok, let me share a recipe I have for smoked sausage (but weenies will do in apinch). We call it corndog casserole. It is some trucker food for sure, but I LOVE IT! make up 2 boxes of jiffy cornbread muffin mix (or your own homemade to save money). Put half the mixture in the bottom of a lasagna size pan. slice/cut up smoked sausage or hot dogs (1-1.5 packs..depdning on how much bread/meat ratio you want). Add the hotdogs, cubed cheese, diced jalapenos if you can stand it, a generous squirtage of mustard all over. Add the rest of the cornbread mix. Bake 375 or so until it's done in the middle (hey, I just wing it). We love it. Yes, I'm chunky and from the South...I know you were wondering so I thought I'd get that out of the way.

OK - So the saucy dogs are already cooked for tonight. Tasted them after they cooked yesterday in the crokpot. They were awesome! I had to make some changes - I'm on a shopping fast, must make do with what I have...subbed tomato paste for tomato soup, , added in juice from 16 oz can of pineapple and about 1/2 cup of water, and omitted lemon juice and brown sugar.
