Can you freeze canned biscuits?

Does anyone know if you can freeze the canned Pillsbury biscuits? I have so many coupons and I am thinking free biscuits if they will freeze ok.

I doubt they'd freeze well, although I could be wrong! I'm picturing biscuit cans exploding in the freezer!

They keep a reeeeeally long time in the fridge, though!

They don't freeze well, but you can bake them and THEN freeze them or bake them up in pot pies or something and freeze the finished product.

The bake and freeze works well if you have the room! I recently used some that were in the freezer for about 6 mo ( wrapped in plastic wrap and then put in a freezer bag) and they were fine. I decrease the baking time by about 5 min and then reheat in the oven.

I accidentally froze the cresents w/o knowing you're not supposed to and they were fine. But they are significantly smaller, so I don't know.

The leavening agent is destroyed by the freezing, so that would explain why everything came out smaller. I just do them on the top of pot pies (not that creative I guess) OR I get the layer kind and break the layers apart and put a layer in the bottom of a muffin tin then fill w/ breakfast fillings (eggs, sausage, cheese, etc) and make breakfast biscuit type things. I also cut the biscuits into quarters and roll into butter, cinnamon, and sugar...look up monkey bread on a recipe site for specifics on that one.

No, I meant the container and crescents are much smaller than the biscuits, sorry. When I cooked them they turned out just the same.

Oh!

One time I opened up a can (when I was single) and tried to just do 2 at a time but the next day when I put two more in (refrigerated but not in can) they wouldn't work.

I've froze them for years with out any problem, you just have to make sure they are completely thawed out before you open them or cook them.

I haven't ever frozen them without cooking, but I stock up when I q's and bake all of them at once. I then flash freeze them on a cookie sheet and then stick them in the freezer in a bag. When we are going to have some, then I just take out how many we need. Stick them in a microwave safe bowl with a little plastic wrap on top and heat them up. It doesn't take long and they still taste really good.

Honestly, I always freeze mine. Then when I want them for a meal or something, like making Mokey Bread with them, then I put them in the fridge overnight and put them on the counter an hour before I use them.

Always worked for me!!!

Hugs!!!

You can use the biscuits to make Bubble Pizza. I love this recipe:

Bubble Pizza

This recipe has a no-fuss crust made from refrigerated biscuits. Just add your favorite toppings

Ingredients:
1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1 can (15 ounces) pizza sauce or make your own using tomato paste and italian seasoning
2 tubes (12 ounces each) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1-1/2 cups (6 ounces) shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese

In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in pizza sauce. Cut each biscuit into quarters; drop the quartered pieces into a well-greased 13" x 9" baking dish. Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 10-12 minutes. Remove from oven. Top the partially cooked biscuits with the pizza sauce and beef mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 20 minutes. Sprinkle with cheeses. Bake 5-10 minutes longer or until cheese is melted. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Cut into squares. Yield: 6-8 servings.

I agree there should be no problem in freezing the canisters, though Pillsbury doesn't recommend it only because it may hamper the rising ability. Just allow full time to thaw and it should work just fine. Worth trying.

I keep my baking yeast in the freezer all the time, so I don't see why there should be a problem with these rising after being frozen. However, I've never tried it.

I bought about 30 cans when they had a sale at Albertsons afew months ago. My daughter has been pulling them out, putting them in fridge to defrost and baking the cinnamon rolls....no complaints.
I have also baked the cresent rolls, no problems. Good luck!
