Looking for Long Island Ice Tea recipe

My friends recently got me hooked on Long Island Ice Teas, but no one knows how to make them. We've tried a couple internet recipes and they don't even come close to what you buy at a bar. ( Red Robin's or TGI Fridays) Does anyone have a recipe that they like, and would be willing to share?

Thank you so much!
Heidi

Long Island Iced Tea recipe
The Long Island Iced Tea (LIIT) is the basis of many elaborate mixed-drinks. It dates to the 70's, named after the USA's largest island, Long Island, in New York. Although it doesn't contain tea, it's taste is similar. The drink sits in the top 5 of most popular cocktails and is regularly mentioned or seen served in television and films (worthy mentions are The Simpsons, Sex and the City and Cruel Intentions).

Collins Glass

1 part vodka
1 part tequila
1 part rum
1 part gin
1 part triple sec
1 1/2 parts sweet and sour mix
1 splash Coca-Cola®

Mix ingredients together over ice in a glass. Pour into a shaker and give one brisk shake. Pour back into the glass and make sure there is a touch of fizz at the top. Garnish with lemon.

This is the one I use. I hope you'll enjoy it also. Drink one for me since I can't have one for a while longer.

LOL sorry but bringing back (vague) memories...here's one that I had one time...Don't remember how good it was really but for SOME odd reason the name sticks out...and this was like 18 years ago! LOL - it's called:

WOO-WOO

1 1/2 oz peach schnapps
1 1/2 oz vodka
3 1/2 oz cranberry juice

Pour all ingredients into a highball glass over ice cubes, stir, and serve.

Enjoy!

I worked as a bartender for Joe's Crab Shack for almost 2 years and this is how we used to make them:

1/4oz vodka
1/4oz rum
1/4oz gin
1/4oz triple sec
Sweet n Sour

Shake a little and top off with Coke. Yummy! It's a bit less abrasive than a REAL long island, and we used to serve them in a big schooner glasses, but it's very good.

If you want to add more liquor to it add 1/4oz tequila.

Thanks a lot! Now you made me want to get a drink...

This is one drink that you only need to drink ONE. The second one could get you into trouble. (Unless you drink it the second night)

Thanks for the recipes, will have to give them a try this weekend. I know it has become my favorite drink. I can't believe how different they taste depending on who makes them. The bars are so good, and when we tired a couple times at home, we ended up tossing them as they were nasty!

Yep! these were DH favorite drink whenever we went out to Uncle Sams & of course since I drove he could drink a few of these years ago

His friend would always order a "Toxic Waste" it was grey in color mixed w/alot of mixes & Peppermint schnapps!

& I was happy w/my water or ginger ale which I got for FREE since I was the Designated Driver I had a pin that said it too from State Farm Insurance & they gave out other goodies too

Any soft drinks (soda only) was FREE for Designated Drivers!

Taking my DH to BENNIGANS for Happy Hour it was 2 fers on ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ONLY! I love the frozen drinks like Pina Colada's & Strawberry Daquari's but w/o the alcohol in them since I don't drink & never did!
I had to argue w/them because there was nothing stated the drinks for 2 fers had to contain alcohol They told me alcoholic drinks were cheaper than soda since they sell alot.

I was wearing my Designated Driver pin too so I said to them ohh so what you're trying to tell me it's better to have drunks driving around then to simply give me a non-alcoholic drink!

Not only did I get my 1st drink Pina Colada but my 2nd drink the bartender brought over to our table himself the manager came over to our table w/complimentary appetizers

DH friend who was w/us said to the manager yeah you do not want to piss her off especially on her omg the manager says yeah I wouldn't want to do that! DH friend says yeah or else we won't be back because it's her decision where we go out to eat.

My was a few weeks away & we did go back but not for Happy Hour but the manager remembered us as soon as we walked in got us seated right away & told the waitress not to let DH be w/o a drink. He only had Budweiser that day but before his Bud glass was empty there was another one waiting

I got a cake too!
