I tried emailing kraft days ago, and haven't heard back. Errrr..... I bought 40 boxes at FL at the begining of the week. I get home, start to put them away, and realize that most expire the middle of August. My kids like Mac and cheese, but won't eat it all that quickly. Swapping out that many would be a hassle.......but I'm not going to keep it if it'd make us sick. How long is it good past the date? Anyone know? TIA

Some other info on it
This might be more of an opinion, but I think the LDS church says that dry pasta is good for 30 years. However, I don't think with kids yours will last that long. Mine certainly doesn't! There are a couple of things I'd do now to protect what you have since you do have an excess. First - freeze the boxes you have for 48 hours each - this will "kill" any bugs that might be in there. I do this with all pasta/flour/grain purchases. I would also probably take them out of the cardboard and put them in a plastic bag that tells me how much to measure out per packet of cheese (just measure the amount in a box before you put it in the bag.) This is personal, but I think it helps eliminate any cardboard taste they might have from sitting around...and it saves room. Do the bag before the freezer if you decide to do it.... |

If you call Kraft they will tell you to toss it. The above posters are right though about the pasta in the box its fine to eat. Dried pasta is good for yrs. Its the cheese packet mixture they are worried about because it contains dairy products. This happens to me all the time to and what I do is just toss the cheese packets and use the pasta diferently, like for macaroni salad or I simply toss it with butter and salt and maybe ketchup ![]() |

We had mac and cheese 2 y beyond the date tonight. It was fine. I would always taste the cheese packet before mixing it in to be sure. As long as your house is air conditioned I find most things are good far beyond the date.
