| Cheap and easy appetizers
Hi, I am not sure if this is the best place for this thread, but thought I would post it here. I am looking for cheap and easy appetizer recipes for an upcoming holiday party. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

COCKTAIL WIENERS 1 lb. cocktail wieners 1 (12 oz.) bottle chili sauce 1 (8 oz.) jar grape jelly In pot, combine jelly and chili sauce. Bring to a boil; stir. Drop in wieners and reduce heat. Ready to serve in 15 minutes. Serve in chafing dish. You can also do these in a crockpot & just serve from there. (That's the way I always do them.) |

I wrap pieces of cheese in salami, secure with a toothpick. I also do a great bean dip in the crock pot: refried beans (you can make your own), rotel tomatoes, and cheese. Dip with chips or veggies. Plain yogurt with the whey skimmed off and salsa mixed in is great too.

Pigs in a blanket 2 pkg of hot dogs (cut each in fourths) a can of biscuits (10ct) cut each into thirds Wrap biscuit dough around each hotdog making sure to pinch ends together and lay that on the bottom of a cookie sheet (so they won't come undone ) bake for 12-15 minutes in 350 oven until lightly brown. Serve with spicy mustard or BBQ sauce to dip. Kids love them and so do adults. You can make your own Chex mix ( the classic with 3 kinds of cereal rice, wheat, corn and pretzels sticks add traditional seasonings or make half into puppy chow for sweet tooths. You can do the ones above using meatballs and some chips and dip like . All you need will be a drink of some sort of drink like punch and you have a retro 70's party. |

Take cream cheese and spread onto a decorative plate, cover with cocktail sauce. Then take a package of imitation crab meat , flake and place on top of cream cheese and cocktail sauce. Eat with ritz crackers or whatever cracker you prefer-looks pretty, the cocktail sauce looks festive too! I also like the little brownie bites- you make a box of brownies but bake int he mini muffin tins. when they are done baking take a spoon to pus on the top to make a slight impression. Top with cream cheese icing and a small slice of strawberry and a small slice of kiwi- the red and green looks quite festive if for Christmas- easy to make too- you can always make the brownies ahead of time and use store bought cream cheese icing- easy and DELISH!

Here's another that I have to make every Christmas. (My hubby & my brother's will each down a tray of them by themselves) BBQ Cups Ingredients 1 tube (10 ounces) refrigerated buttermilk biscuits 1 pound ground beef 1/2 cup ketchup 3 tablespoons brown sugar 1 tablespoon cider vinegar 1/2 teaspoon chili powder 1 cup (4 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese Directions Separate dough into 10 biscuits; flatten into 5-in. circles. Press each onto the bottom and up the sides of a greased muffin cup; set aside. In a skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar and chili powder; stir until smooth. Add to meat and mix well. Divide the meat mixture among biscuit-lined muffins cups, using about 1/4 cup for each. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 375° for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 5 minutes before serving. Yield: 10 servings. Note* I have slightly altered this recipe and just used a can of manwich in place of the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar & chili powder & I use mozzarella cheese along with the cheddar (my family likes them better this way) |

Sliced stuffed breads (like ham and swiss), crustless quiche, grilled lemon chicken skewers and latkes are always elegant cheap appetizers. You can also do an assortment of homemade dips with crackers. Although it sounds expensive cantaloupe and proscuitto skewers are really pretty cheap considering how much you get out of one cantaloupe and one package of proscuitto. You can also do a soft flavored cheese (from cream cheese) and put on endive leaves. You don't need a lot of endive to make a big amount. Feel free to pm me, I was a caterer in my past life.
