Good Morning, I have to get my Ohio State gear on and then I'm ready for another football Saturday! Hot shredded chicken sandwiches here. I think this might be a mid-west thing. We used to get them at the drive-in root beer stand in Ohio but don't know if they're still popular there or not. I know root beer stands are few and far between now. Anyway, we'll have slaw and a relish tray, too. I might make small fruit tarts for dessert since hubby got a beautiful basket of fruit for his birthday that needs using up. Have you ever had a hot chicken sandwich, BigShirley? Anybody else tried these? BTW: I see where several ladies answered BigShirley's question about cheddar and apples. We slice the apples and eat them with a chunk of cheddar. Oh so good! Have a great Saturday! |

GO BUCKS!!! My 2 year old has already requested to watch Brutus today, starting to teach her right from a young age!! Now if I could just get DH to stop teaching her about Michigan we would be straight (LOL) As for dinner, not sure what is on the menu. Might be leftovers, or I might send DH out to grab something since Michigan isn't on TV at the same time Ohio State is. Oh and I love apple slices with cheddar cheese! I also am a fan of putting a nice piece of cheese on hot apple pie (YUM, YUM, YUM) And also a big fan of the hot shredded chicken or turkey sandwiches. The root beer stand in my hometown makes hot shredded turkey--miss that so much. But then again I am orginally an Ohio girl so it could have something to do with it.

Good Morning, rainydays - yes I have had hot chicken sandwiches (but I'm from the Mid West MI originally) Pretty good from what I remember! & we do the apples & cheese thing too! We have the inlaws in and have a busy day. But we are having grilled steak & chicken, red roasted potatoes, veggie, bananna cream pudding with vanilla waffers, salad. Enjoy all your football, hockey, cross country, what ever other sports are happening out there today! I'm off to a cc meet.

Good morning everyone! Wonderful sunny morning here after so much rain and fog! No cooking today for me today! DH is working overtime in the ICU, so after we visit DS in the hospital, DD and I will go for a late lunch early dinner. She wants to go to steak and shake, I dont know, as much as I love the burgers, I always have to take zantac before I even step in the door! LOL Forgot to mention earlier, Bigshirley, YAY on going into the tent!! One day closer! Prayers continue.Wanted to add, although I live in the Midwest now, I am orig. from N.Y., I have never had one of these sandwiches you mention. How are they made? Sounds good!

I had planned for us to eat pizza at a party for DS's football team. But since the game got moved to tomorrow, they changed the pizza party time! Now I know some of you like eating an early dinner on Sundays, but 2 pm is not a good time for anyone in my family. They eat lunch around 12 and dinner around 6, so what's with the 2 pm? Anyway, thanks for writing down what you are doing for dinner, because now I have to come up with something! Boo Ohio State! Go Illini (playing Michigan State today)!!!

Happy Saturday everyone! It sounds like alot of us like our football! Rainydays, I am from Pa and we eat the hot shredded chicken or turkey sandwiches, very popular to have when you have a big group to feed! So yummy! We are having a big pot of white bean chicken chili and baked potatoes, with various toppers - grated cheese, sour cream, chopped onions....Yum! For dessert, I am trying a new recipe for pumpkin cheesecake bars...sounds good, so we will see! We are watching our Gamecocks...go SC! Have a great football Saturday everyone!

As a true blue Michigan fan, I'm not feeling the love from you Buckeyes! Hmmmm...I won't hold it against you. LOL. We're still mourning the end of our beloved Tigers' season. Go Minnesota, well deserved win when it counted most!!! We are eating leftovers tonight. I know, not very exciting, but it's the best I can do tonight!

I lucked out at FL today and found Beef Back Ribs on markdown for 1.40! Sooo, they're all spiced up and in the oven slow cooking right now. I'm debating on baked potatoes or just opening a can of Bush's baked beans. I think I'll throw a batch of dough in the bread maker and make yeasty knot rolls to go along with them. I hope the ribs turn out good, this is my first attempt at the back ribs.
