I'm cooking an old recipe my mom used to fix... she called it hamburger gravy. I'll serve it over mashed potatoes, I'll also have some english peas and sliced tomatoes. We'll eat the last of the cake from Sunday for dessert. Have a great afternoon.

Jaxrooster could you PM me your mom's recipe for hamburger gravy. My mom used to make something similar but she can't remember how. As for us tonight is chicken tetrazinni and leftover veggies. Nothing special, although since the weather is so nice I might let DD use some vanilla pudding to finger paint outside with after dinner.

Well, I am having an afternnon snack of pumpkin roll (that I made Sun.) and a nice cup of coffee! I am making nothing for dinner. We are going to the in-laws and they are gonna feed us!! Woo Hoo! It is cold and dreary here today! I like the cool temps, but can we just have a little sunshine??? Chance of frost here Thurs. night. Looks like Fall is really coming! Have a great night everyone and enjoy your dinner! (or as my Mom would say, ......supper.)

Today was another chilly, windy, sun in/sun out day. Homemade chicken soup was on our dinner menu tonight. Big Shirley, wish you could have been here for some. I just know that would help you feel better! Rainydays, the apple dumplings sound fabulous. Tomorrow we hope to go to the Bloomsburg Fair and their apple dumplings are a "must have". |

today we had potato soup with ham cheese and rivels in it (my grandmas recipe) and apple crisp. the potatoes and apples are from our garden and tree! makes me feel so domestic, and that soup always reminds me of all the great times we had before my grandma passed. tomorrow, i am thinking homemade bread and roasted butternut squash soup (from our garden of course). if we have any peaches left i want to try peach dumplings, a local church makes them and they are amazing....anyone have a recipe

Here's the Paula Deen recipe for Blueberry Dumplings. We love this with strawberries. I think peaches would be good too! These are so yummy when warm, served with ice cream! Blueberry Dumplings: 1 c. all-purpose flour 1 T. sugar, plus 1 1/2 cups 1 t. baking powder Pinch salt 1/2 c. (1 stick) butter, softened 1/4 c. milk 1 quart fresh or frozen blueberries 2 c. water Vanilla ice cream, for serving Sift flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, baking powder, and salt together in a medium bowl. Cut butter into dry ingredients, using a pastry cutter or fork. Add milk to form dough. Set dumpling dough aside. In a large saucepan, combine berries, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and water, and bring to a boil. Drop dumplings into hot boiling berries by the teaspoonful. Cover pot, reduce heat to low, and cook slowly for 20-30 minutes. Do not remove the lid before 20 minutes has passed, and do not stir the dumplings, Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Makes 8 servings. Last edited by aidan&logansmommy; 09-30-2009 at 04:56 AM. |

Everyone's meals sound so great. Just plain old chicken broccoli lasagna but making it for the first time with fresh mozzarella cheese slices. We will see if its a hit with the family or not. We will have salad and french bread. I'm dying to try the blueberry dumplings. Sounds mmmm good. Have a great day. The food's in the oven.
