What can I do with dried cherries?

I was given two pounds of dried cherries and have no idea what to do with them all. Besides making oatmeal cherry cookies and some trail mix I don't know what to do with them. Anyone have some recipes to pass along? They would be greatly appreciated.

Not too sure about the cherry vodka, I prefer my vodka flavored with bloody mary mix (make it myself : )

How do I make cherry vinegar? Dried cherries would be good for that?

Do you have a recipe for the granola bars? I usually do a trail mix when I don't know what to do with something, but my kids just make a mess with it and its not convenient to take on the go.

Cherry salsa is great! You can put it on lots of meats like turkey, pork, etc.

I've used dried cranberries in a baked apple crisp...dried cherries might be better. Maybe soak them in some brandy or rum first.

Use them in a regular black forest cake recipe, mixed in the batter for a richer flavor.

I make a harvest apple tart, with ref. pie crust, peel and chop apples, (about 4) add 1/2 C chopped dried apricots, 1/4 C dried cherries, 1/4 C nuts, 1/4 C sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/8 tsp nutmeg. Toss together, place pie crust round on cookie sheet sprayed with pam. Place mixture in middle of pie crust, fold edges up with the middle open, Bake 350 about 45 min. Easy to make up ahead if you have apples that are going bad and put mixture in freezer. Then you can make quickly for company.

Im a little late to the party but I understand your cherry issue. except... I had 12 pounds. yeah, twelve.
I made sugar cookies with dried cherries. dark chocolate and cherry cookies. put them on cereal. added them to fudge recipes.
there are a bunch of marinade recipes that call for dried cherries (which I dont like with meat but thats personal preference).

I have about a pound left. thank heavens.

If I did this I don't think they'd make it into the cake :

I'd really like a recipe for granola bars, I suppose I could look, but I'd like one where I can get tips from the person I get it from in case something doesn't work. And I'm lazy

My grandmother makes a chocolate cherry nut cake. Get a pilsbury dark choco mix add your cherries and nuts.... or make it from scratch. She does both. Yummy!

Hi...how about a great sauce for poultry or pork? Simmer with a bit of butter, lemon, onion, salt, pepper, sage, and a bit of broth, then thicken with corn starch.

Now there is a unique idea. Thanks a bunch for that! I just got a bunch of chicken breasts on sale so I will be making that this week Any recommendation on the amount of cherries to use?
