I'm guessing that the cost of one blanket + shipping is worth about the same as the cost of paying someone to do market research/survey on one person.

Ditto. Certainly not worth it to me to risk ongoing phone calls or text messages and uncertain shipping and handling charges. Buyer beware. There is no such thing as a free lunch!
