Baby Hospital issued diaper bags question

I just had my baby last Thursday and I was suprised that my hospital didn't offer the free diaper bag program anymore. I was wondering if any one has had any luck contacting the companies (emfamil, similac, goodstart) and has recieved diaper bags through the mail. I was counting on recieving them since I have recieved them with all my other babies born there. I actually had to run to Walmart after getting released to purchase formula (counting on the samples) and a diaper bag... I wasn't too pleased about that!

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks@!

Congrats on the baby!!!! Did you sign up at each of the formula companies' websites? Does your pediatrician give out samples? How about your OB? I got samples from all of those places. Good luck!!

Congratulations! My hospital didn't give me anything either. I tried to contact the companies and they said they don't actually have the bags, that you have to get them from the hospital. Sorry you didn't get one. My first baby I received so much stuff, even toys and clothes. My second I got the diaper bag and some samples, my third- nothing!

I had twins last August and I got a diaper bag for each baby. Maybe they have just recently stopped doing this?? That's too bad because they always have good samples and coupons!

I work at a hospital in L&D and a lot of the hospitals aren't taking the "free" samples from the companies because of different reasons. My hospital is not going to be offering them much longer because of their strong belief in breastfeeding. I don't agree... getting a free diaper bag with some formula won't make Mom's who BF want to bottle feed!!

I'm sorry you didn't get a bag!! They should have at least helped you out with some formula for your trip home and a few days!! You can even call the hospital and complain! You have every right too voice your opinion!! That's what I would do!!!!

Thanks! I didn't recieve anything from my OB which I have every single time in the past. My hospital is making cut backs due to funding but I wouldn't think that they would have to pay for the diaper bags/formula that they hand out, but I might be wrong. I figured I would try and email the companies and see if that gets me anywhere. I will ask my pediatrician for some free samples but that might be along the same cut backs as the hospital.

Oh, they did send home some formula, 3 2 oz bottles that would have only lasted about 8 hrs..... I suppose that's better than nothing.

It seems like I came across something online for Enfamil. It was a coupon you print off and bring to your Dr.'s office for a free diaper bag or samples of formula. Maybe you could try that?

I would definately call the hospital and let them know you are not too happy. When I had DD I actually had to ask for the diaper bag, they told me they weren't going to "just" give it to me. I was so mad. They almost acted as if I was trying to steal something from them. They are FREE from the reps, just give me my diaper bag with my free formula please!

After all the pain of labor and delivery, the diaper bag is always sort of a treat for me!

Definately ask at your Pediatricians office about formula samples, I think most every office has them. Try going to the formula companies website and sending them an email or calling about this, I'm willing to bet that they'd send you one.

The Similac Bag they have out now is so cute, it's black with black polka dots on it. I would've bought it at the store anyways!

Congrats! I never got anything from the hospital at all. Seems very strange, but that is how it happened. Kind of a bummer since they are making a killing!!! The very least that they could do it give you some formula or some diapers. It seems like you have to have twins these days to get anything! People that only have one child need stuff too!

I got a pack from Similac and Enfamil in the mail before DD was born. Our hospital has a program called "Baby Grand" where you go tour the hospital, preregister, and sign up with local vendors and all the "baby companies"...formula, daycares, etc.

I agree with this. I did get bags for my first 2 and I never even took the formula home - just gave it back to the nurse and asked her to give it to someone else there who was using it.

But, the bags are way too small for me, so I never used them, either!

Congrats-I got a diaper bag from he hospital from Similac but the zipper broke a week later. I email them and told them. I got a nicer one in the mail a few weeks later with samples. It looks like a black sling shoulder bag. Just check the website.

I wanted to get the NGS backpack but my hospital did not offer it, I contacted them but they would not send me one. They put me on a mailing list and thats how I get formula checks
.
I emailed Enfamil and the sent me a coupon link to get a free little nursing bag with samples at the dr. office. Search there website for nursing mom supplement pack

The one I got from Similac folds in on itself and zips up very small so I use it as a reusable shopping bag.

Hi and congratulations on the new baby! I just had my baby last Wednesday.. so our babes are only a day apart. My hospital didnt have the diaper bags either. They told me the formula companies stopped giving them to the hospital. I did ask if I could be sent home with some formula, so they gave me 16 2oz ready to feed bottles. I was still disappointed though.

Congrats on your new bundle of joy. I know the peds. office always has some on hand, so make sure to ask. It has been years, b ut I call good start(are they still around?) and they sent me a free can and coupons every few weeks. Target is another good one to call they did send out free cans. When I had my 3 they had different bags on hand ones for moms breastfeeding and one for moms not. they had totally different things in them. I am shocked they sent you home with that little.
