I'm not much of a cook in the kitchen, but have been wanting to try my hand at a few new recipes that I've read in magazines lately. In a few of the recipes about roasting meats, they mention an ingredient called "liquid smoke." What is that exactly, and where can you get this from? ![]() TIA for any help you can offer |

Every grocery store should carry this. I've bought it at Super Walmart. I think it's next to the tabasco sauce, hot sauce, etc. (It's been awhile since I've needed to buy any.) It comes in a little bottle, and let me tell you, a little, bitty bit goes a loooong way. Don't be tempted to add more than a recipe calls for. It adds a smoky flavor to your recipe. Too much will make the recipe taste like burnt charcoal!! Personal preference: I add less than the recipe calls for. Good luck! |

I use this all the time with homemade BQ, and yes, just use the amount called for. It gives you a real good smoked flavor. Sally

My kitchen is never without this! It is my secret ingredient to beans, stew, soups, casseroles, meatloaf, etc. I get the quart bottles at the Restaurant Supply House and it helps on the pricesome! It's great!!
