Mostly everything is washed on cold.. The only exception is the undershirts of my boyfriend.. and it is rare that I do his laundry.. But those things should be washed in boiling hot water |

We wash everything in cold/cold. DH is a big guy and we don't risk shrinking any of his clothes. It all comes out clean, though.

The only time I use hot water on clothes is when the kids have been sick. Other than that it is cold at all time for me and I also hang most of our clothes up to dry.

![]() I wash towels and sheets in HOT, colors in COLD, and whites in WARM. Ever since I saw a show (was it Oprah) about how dirty the inside of your washer can become..............and what they found lingering in there................I try to add bleach once in a while...........and every so often I'll wash towels and sheets on the SANITARY (EXTREMELY HOT) cylcle, just because.

sheets and underwear on hot to kill germs. Towels in cold because if you aren't clean after you take a shower then you are doing something wrong. Mine and DH's clothes in cold. DS's in warm/hot with a scoup of oxyclean because he is 5 and gets grass, dirt, and Lord knows what else in hsi clothes.

Everything in cold except sheets. I have 3 people allergic to dust mites and you have to use hot water to get rid of those (according to the allergy doctor).

I wash everything in cold to save $$. You are putting everything in a hot dryer, so I don't think it matters what temp you wash stuff in. I have never had a problem with things not getting clean. I also will run my washer on the hot water cycle with a helping cup of bleach once a month to kill any germs that might be hanging around. I wanted to write to Tide when they came out with the coldwater wash formula a while ago. I wondered if I was doing something wrong by using the regular Tide in the cold water for several decades now!!

I wash just about everything on COLD. But, sometimes, I do towels on HOT just to get them an extra cleaning. I do cold so nothing shrinks! |

Most things Warm, Cold sometimes for things that can shrink and Hot for towels and sheets and husbands rank work clothes. I always thought cold wasn't good as far as getting clean or smells.....I dunno for sure though. And I hang stuff outside whenever I can so I don't always put my clothes and laundry in a hot dyer so maybe that makes a difference?

I was everything in warm. I guess I am not too domesticated in this area, as I did not know when to wash what on what.

I use cold/cold. I know some people declare that hot for whites and towels/linens, but I use cold/cold for everything. If we have colds I might use hot or might use some bleach. We used city water nearly 50 years and the last 3 have used well water. Our city water was soft and we needed very little detergent. I line dried for years, but eventually got a dryer. I have found that well water tends to gray/yellow clothes if you use hot. DH washes our bed clothes and his clothes and uses hot or warm. I have found them getting more gray looking. I am sure that is from the water being hot and having minerals in it. I know they are clean. I don't complain about a little gray. I'm getting some help from DH I never had before. So I am a happy camper.
