| Red neck swimming pool. Have you put one up?
You know the ones that are above ground. I bought a HUGH one at Target end of last season. Such a sweet buy. $299.00 and I got it for about $60.00 dollars. Even sign up for the Target card so I got 10% off. Heres a pic. Metal Frame Pool - 15'x42" : TargetProblem is a friend of mine says I have to haul in (or have hauled in) a load of sand so that it is perfectly level. Everything I have read about it, people say that even if your yard is a little unlevel it works great. Min is unlevel. But have had other pools there before. Did fine. Question is. I only paid $60.00 for this. The sand will be about $250.00 to $300.00 (per him, my friend) to deliver it. Then you have to carry it to the back yard. Level it blah, blah. I just can't see paying $300.00 for sand when I only paid $60.00 for the pool. Most of them only last 2 years anyway. I always pick up another one before the 2 years is up. Am I crazy to just want to set it up with out the $300.00 dollars of sand? Or should I just cough up the money and do it (per him) the right way?

I would suggest that you level it out as much as possible! Use a level...NO JOKE! We have a 15' blowup pool and just the slightest decline or incline near the outside of the pool causes havock on it. One side will be higher water level than the other which can cause one side to collapse and you lose all your water. My DH leveled ours out the first year wonderfully and bought a few of bags of sand from Menards. The next year it wasn't completely level, so I grabbed a few bags of garden dirt and just propped them on the lower end. I didn't take the dirt out of the bags. ![]() This has worked like a charm as the dirt stays in the bags and doesn't wash away.

| Red neck swimming pool. Have you put one up? Girl, you have gone UP-town!! In Georgia, a redneck swimming pool is a big plastic liner in the back of a pick up truck!! And if you were real lucky, it was a longbed at that!! |

I would try to put a request into your local Craigslist for sand. You just might never know when someone might have some that they don't know how to get rid of it.

Our neighbors got one last year. They leveled out the area, put a few bags of sand around and put it up. It's still up after the winter even.

You DO NOT have to use sand for these! We have one and did just like KMchamplin said..find the levelest place on your lawn, Level with extra bags of sand if need.... You should be good to go.....these are sturdier sided than the blow up ring kind! As we had that kind and what Km said about the slightest tilt is VERY TRUE GOOD LUCK nad happy swimming |

So really since I had one the year before, I also think I can buy a few more bags and level it myself, without the $300.00 truck! I have had several out here. The winds and lack of use gets them faster than anything! Wanna send your kids over here to help me keep the water stirred up! Best alga control!!

My sister had one of these and I watched the man do the leveling. Basically he marked off an outline of where the pool should be and then put 2x4's every which way and made sure every time he laid down the 2x4 he was level. He wasn't a carpenter or anything but it did stay up. I would make sure I didn't have rocks or sticks or roots under the pool. HAVE FUN!

Here my biggest problem is nut grass. Has poked every pool I have ever gotten. Hopefully tomorrow the wind won't be blowing and I can kill off all the grass. ( That kills me too. My grass is so nice. The weeds are where it's the most unlevel)

Heck I was born and raised in South Texas and a redneck pool for us was a big metal water trough that farmers used to water the cows and horses.... ..girl your pool is down right civilized...really you should be just fine with just a couple bags of sand from Home Depot or Lowes or even the Walmart bags of garden soil for under a buck!! Have fun!!

We bought one last year the directions states Do Not Use sand. My friend used sand anyway and had to let all the water out and remove the sand. The sand will shift making your pool uneven. We bought cheat soil at Walmart to put under our pool. Worked great. we put a tarp down and put the soil on top of it only on the places we needed to level .
