In the past, I have found some goodies on the side of the road...a little tikes outdoor boat and a little tikes basketball hoop to name my favorite finds. Today I hit the motherlode. I decided to drive around the neighborhood after taking ODS to school. We found this:

Ours is missing the green bowl but has the lego pad and the arms and I didn't even know there was supposed to be a green bowl b/c you'd never know anything was missing.

At the same house, they had the car version of this:

BAO Sit-on Firetruck - Feels like driving!

And I was feeling so lucky I drove around and found another house that had a Little Tikes Toddler slide! WHOO-HOO!

A little cleaning, some batteries...GOOD TO GO!

when we lived on post on a military base every month in the spring/summer they would do this and my husband and i would drive forever finding stuff. we found a brand new bike, four tvs, coffee table, pictures to hang on wall, bar stools, and our best find was like a 500 dog cage for our super large dog--FREE!!! i loved that, i miss living there cos that was the best part about living on post... most of the stuff would be brand new and right as soon as people would get back from deployment there was always tons of stuff sitting out since they went and bought brand new <3

When my parents lived in Germany when I was little they said this was common practice. She said in her area is it was Tuesday, you put what you didn't need by the street and people would take what they needed. She said there is even a name they use for the entire concept...I'll ask her what it is.

I wish I could find good stuff around here.

I think EVERYWHERE should do this. Think of how much waste would not end up in the landfill b/c people are too lazy to call salvation army! Little Tikes toys are indestructible almost, so life left it in to give.

Anyway, I'm totally pumped and hoping I find a playhouse or better yet a play castle soon

Many communites are having that Freecycle now. It's a yahoo group where you can post offer/wanted and people can give you what you need or you can offer things you don't need <3

I had my first successful freecycle pickup today!!! Chick gave me 15 lightbulbs cuz she switched to all CFLs. I was happy!

Around my town when they do clean up week you can drive around and see who took peoples junk from the year before. One year you'll see something in one persons junk pile then the same item will be in someone elses the next.

Yeah, freecycle is difficult. I asked the moderator to get me in and never got a response for months.

By the time I finally checked yahoo it was too late and I didn't feel like going through the process again.

Freecycle is so worth it!!! it is very easy to join!!!today I gave away a shower seat and a lawn and leaf bag full of clothing!!! I picked up a FREE Glass and metal table with 6 chairs and an umbrella and base to match!!! I love freecycle!!!Today was a VERY good day!!! I got a twin size bed, with mattress and boxspring (Still in the plastic) and the sheets and comforter and the Teddy bear that was a decoration! the bed was the brushed metal in a dark bronze only used for a spare room!!

We have our bulky item pickup time scheduled for week after next. While I haven't gone trolling for items it sure is nice to put out all the stuff you want out of your house. It's fun to watch people going through it all up and down the street and come morning half of it is gone already! They won't want any of the stuff I'm bailing...trust me!

well, I joined freecyle and I will see how it goes. It appears they have made it easier. I think freecycle is different for every chapter...some people do not know how to set up a yahoo group well I guess. Anyway, I noticed the majority of postings on my town's freecycle was people wanting free stuff. That could get old!

Oh, and my little driving simulator was broken, but no biggie b/c the 3 kids have been fighting over the lego chair all night. I may have to use my lego.com gift cards from pamper pts to get more duplos for them.

oh yes i used to love watching people drive by and scan the piles. it was like a mad frenzy if it was a good pile i can say i've had myself out (pregnant nonetheless) and elbowing someone off of something i wanted -cough,changing table,cough- also a fisher price ocean wonders swing<3
