you can find them just about anywhere, in the woods is where we go,and everyone has thier spots..and thier always a secret..shhh...you can look them up to see a pic of them..so have fun if you go..i will..

oh i forgot to add im in northern,mi but ive seen on the morel sights they have been finding alot in the southern states.

None here now under several inches or feet of snow.

look them up online, it will tell you the diff between them, its pretty easy to tell them apart, and you could have someone check them all to be sure you have the right ones.

its so cold out today, we only found about 8 and they were small. its in the 40 s and yesterday it was almost 80..go figure....

My dh and I are HUGE morel hunters and love to eat them. We go every year and they are definitely the best tasting mushroom EVER!!! You usually find them under ash and sycamore trees and where may apples grow. Yes it is always a secret where you actually find them. I am on a morel site where everyone posts their findings and pictures. I love love love them.

The older people call them "dry land fish". I think because they kind of taste like fish. I wish I could grow my own in my own yard, now that would be heavenly!!!

my sister knows people who dig down when they find little ones and take them home and plant in thier yard, then pick when they get big..........

hey chris, a couple of years ago we found some and then dumped the water we rinsed them in, in our back yard and the next year we had some in our yard in the middle of town. have you tried that? the few that we get in our yard come on about mothersday. though we usually fry them in butter and i am on a diet this year, so i am not sure how that will work out.

we found 2 in Beaverton Oregon last Thur. Maybe there will be more out this week.
