I read approximately 5 books a week. I read mostly with classics and Christian fiction or cozy books. I don't like the whole "mail order bride" and "amish" genre. I like a good story, a little romance is OK, action, sci-fi, mystery etc. Right now I'm reading Dickens. I just finished David Copperfield and started Great Expectations. I read him every couple of years, he never gets old! Other favorites: Noel Hynd--has 2 trilogies out that are action/adventure with a touch of romance, about a FBI/CIA women who is a Christian. It's not preachy at all, she's an Episcopalian. It follows her throughout Europe, South America and Cuba. She is quite possibly my favorite fictional character. The Cuban Triology and The Russian Trilogy, I cannot recommend more highly. Daniel Ganninger: Flapjack. free on Kindle, not Christian, more or less a cozy mystery leaving most things to the imagination. He has a bunch of books out, a couple are free on Kindle. A fun read, good Kindle reviews. Joyce Magnin: She writes Christian books, I wouldn't count on them being theologically accurate necessarily, but interesting flawed characters. The Last Condo board of the Apocalypse by Nina Post which is classified as Christian but is really just weird, funny, and crazy. If you want something just out there, light, and a bit crazy, you'll love this. The Cure by Athol Dickson--Christian but not preachy, about a discovery of the cure for alcoholism. Other authors I've read recently Ted Dekker--The Circle Series, Diane Moody, Alexandra Swann, Joel Rosenberg and T Davis Bunn. These are Christian authors who write really interesting stories--Dekker's is science fiction, Moody writes great stories (love Blue Christmas and Of Windmills and War especially) Swann's is a sort of futuristic take, Rosenberg is CIA/middle East spy stuff, and Bunn is a great storyteller. I got most of these free on cheap on Kindle. I check the Top 100 bestsellers on Kindle a couple of times a week, especially the free ones. I also stop at the local Goodwill etc and pick a few paperbacks up for 75 cents each. Happy reading! |

Xenta, I breezed through Game of Thrones after I ran out of the TV series and wanted to know more background on the places and characters. I also read all the James S A Corey books as I really like the Expanse series on SyFy. I'm reading Homer's Odyssey. It's kind of in the same vein, but a bit in the past. ![]() |
