Question Disney visit questions

We are looking into a Florida trip this summer. Am I crazy but 4 days & nights at WDW would be $2200 for our family of four. Holy
Moly that's a lot. Anyone have any ideas??? We hope to vacation for 9 days so we can't blow the whole budget that quick!

I haven't been there in years but the best thing I did was stay inside the park. They had a free shuttle bus to everywhere in the park (so no parking and walking 80 miles to the gate!) plus it gave you access to the park an hour before outsiders. As soon as they let us in we ran to the back of the park. We easily rode a dozen rides with no waiting.

We always went when there was free dining plan included (we went the week of Labor Day when we homeschooled). If you don't purchase the dining plan, bring your own water bottles in your backpack and a couple snacks and have just one splurge meal a day. So many great memories there without spending money. My husband and I went without our girls one year and the most romantic thing we did was to go watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks at the beach at the Polynesian while eating a Dole whip (yum). There is a grassy area off to the right of the beach. We felt like we were alone instead of with 100,000 of our closest friends. My husband and I shared snacks and meals. That way we wouldn't be too full while riding rides. And we could stop every couple hours to eat again.
Don't buy their pictures. Buy a couple souvenirs at home before you go, glow sticks, twirly things, etc. at the Disney Store.
I have great memories of Disney. Ask people what the hidden gems are that you can do for free. It changes all the time.

You said family of 4, how old are the children you are going with? Have they been to Disney before?

Personally, I'd stay off site, bring in your own food and depending on what you are looking for and the ages of children/ride ability, skip some of Disney and go to Sea World and/or Universal.

I was there in 2013 and while I can see the advantage of staying at the park, we rented a house with a pool/hot tub and 4 bedrooms about 10 minuets from the park a ton cheaper than a hotel. We ate breakfast at the house, brought in pbj & mini chip bags for lunch and then bought a drink and ate dinner at a quick place. We got there a little before opening and didn't have to walk very much to get in.

Our 12 yo hates coaster, seems odd since Cedar Point is down the street!!! Our 7 yo wants to ride but he is only 48" tall. I am torn bc we will give up our summer of Cedar Point for 2 weeks in Fla. Seems like Disney hotels aren't too expensive it's the tickets that make it so expensive. 4 days and nights with quick dining $2170. Seems super convenient not dealing with coming and going. But that's only 4 of the days we will be down there!!! I have checked out rental homes, condos and other hotels. Again it's the tickets for everything that is the problem. Universal Studios(just to do Harry Potter) is $150 daily. Going to keep looking. Thx for the ideas!!! Been stashing little trinkets for awhile so we don't have to buy high dollar stuff at the parks

We went years ago and stayed in Buena Vista. Seems like I requested visitor info and received a nice coupon book from the town. You might request info from Orlando and surrounding areas and perhaps they'll send some coupons! If you're into Swagbucks, Perk or other gift card generating sites, I understand you can purchase Disney gift cards with Target gift cards.

I have lived in Orlando all my life. DO NOT buy souvenirs at the parks - total rip off. Go to Walmart they have them all there. Check Airbnb or VRBO for renting a house or condo - check Orlando and Kissimmee. We have Walmart, Target, Publix and Winn Dixie so you could purchase groceries and eat meals at the condo. Growing up we would pack a lunch and keep it in a cooler in the car. When we wanted to eat, take the tram to the parking area, eat lunch and then go back. Remember it is Florida the "Liquid Sunshine State". It rains almost every afternoon - DON'T leave the park that is when all the tourists leave and it makes it easier to get into the rides. Also DO NOT buy any "discounted" tickets to any of the theme parks - they don't exist and the parks will be glad to take them and escort you back to the ticket areas.

thats actually a great price imho...we have been numerous times for 3 - 4 days over thanksgiving and paid more than that. i say go for it. dont stay on property...no need. and food is bad in our opinion. we always stay at lake buena vista resort and spa and it is clean has pools and an outlet mall across the parking lot. and its a quick ride to the parks. disney is expensive no matter how you look at it or try to bargain...its just expensive. but well worth it. enjoy.

Been watching the LBV area for deals. Do you know if you can use Disney transportation from the marketplace to get to
The parks if you are not staying onsite??

Just so you know....you can get free cups of water anywhere that serves meals. I thought it was much easier than having to carry a water bottle. Also if you have a disney chase card there are a few free things in epcot. Free character pictures (near innovations...I believe)and there is a lounge in the world showcase (America) that gives free drinks.

I have gone multiple times in the past few years (huge Disney-nut!). But, no, you can't take Disney transportation from the market-place to the parks.

You may want to check "Magical Vacation Travel". They seem to have some amazing deals...

I second the taking backpacks with food. We were there for a week right before Christmas. We would eat breakfast right before we left for the day. We packed the backpack with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruit, crackers and other small items. We would eat one meal a day at the park. Also pack ponchos!! We got stuck in the rain a couple of times, was not fun, . Go to Walmart if you want souvenirs, we bought stuff at the park and saw the exact same stuff at walmart cheaper. Also don't bother with those big huge souvenir shops, the costs arent that great.
