| Eggo Waffles
I went crazy and bought a lot of plain Eggo waffles on sale w/ coupon. Now I am getting tired of them. DH keeps telling me to use them up and get them out of our deep freezer! Does anyone have any creative ideas/receipes so I can use these up? Thanks!

I know at IHOP they do a thing with waffles and whipped cream and fruit. Always seems like more of a dessert than breakfast to me, so make the waffle into a dessert. Chocolate sauce and ice cream on top. Another idea, defrost them and use them to make bread pudding. Just a couple thoughts. |

Now this is gonna sound crazy but it is good and I think I got this recipe from Taste of Home. Take the Eggos and make an batter like for French Toast, except not sweet. Take some Deli Ham & Cheese and put in the middle of the Eggos. Dip Eggo sandwich like you are making French Toast & then grill on both sides. They are delicious!! They are good done like a hot open faced turkey sandwich with mashed taters in the middle and gravy over all. Cut them into strips and kinda fry them like French Toast! Cut them into 1" pieces and spray with Pam. Sprinkle with garlic powder and bake! They make great croutons!! In the Deep South they serve fried chicken on top of waffles with honey over it. Now that one doesn't appeal to me cause I don't want no messing around with my chicken!! HTH............

It is funny you mention that, I just saw on the Today show, fried chicken on top of waffles. That is what got me thinking about those waffles again! I don't think I'll try the chicken idea though .

Actually if you go to Pilsbury.com they have recipe to make stuffing with waffles. Every year they have million dollar recipe contest. This woman made a stuffing out of the pilsbury waffle stix. You might have seen the show on the Food Network. I have read mixed reviews about this recipe but, it can't hurt to check it out. Could you give them out to any friends or family?

One idea would be to toast them crispy and serve ice cream on them...like for "Waffle Cones". It's pretty good. It's really good if you build a sunday on them.

Your local day care or preschool may take them as long as they are in their original packaging. I might try a church preschool or mother's day out first. They are always needing snacks.

The donation idea is great. (And) yes, the original packaging is the only way that any community service organization may accept this donation. It was just on the News last evening that the Soup Kitchen Pantrys are empty. Also, Meals on Wheels for the Elderly is always looking for food that is soft and easy for the senior citizens to eat. (Someone mentioned their kids love them with peanut butter.) For a senior, a waffle with some peanut butter would be a great protein dinner. And there is always a City Mission. Telephone a few churches for suggestions. Just think how wonderful you will feel helping out so many deserving people. All with an Eggo Waffle! |
