Hello all -- this was forwarded to me today, so I looked it up on Snopes, and also went to the site referenced below. If you are an Oprah fan, or if you're like me...really not a fan, but occasionally purchasing her magazine, you need to know this. If you are NOT an Oprah fan, you still need to know this to be an informed Christian in case you come across this...the "New Age Christ" Oprah is teaching is not THE Christ.

This is so scary. Oprah has so much influence over so many people.

Many of you, like me, have probably been Oprah fans for a long time. This is very discouraging news to hear about one who has such tremendous influence on the general public Please ask God to show Oprah the real Jesus Christ.
Just to make sure this was true, I went on Oprah's website and there it is. The below article is very interesting, so I thought I would share.

A Course in Miracles is allegedly a 'new revelation' from 'Jesus' to help humanity work through these troubled times. This 'Jesus'-who bears no doctrinal resemblance to the Bible's Jesus Christ-began delivering channeled teachings in 1965 to a Columbia University Professor of Medical Psychology, Helen Schucman. Oprah has gotten too serious for me lately. I used to really love her show.

I think she's taking HERSELF too seriously. It's a shame so many people look to her as someone who "knows it ALL".

Well truthfully I loved Oprah, but I can not support her anymore by watching her television show- This is against everything I believe and teach my children. I would be a hypocrite to watch her and then disagree with what she is teaching IMO. I just wanted to let everyone know about her beliefs and what she is teaching- 2 million are now reading and following this- and that is just what we are aware of!

Remember people- we all have friends/families who we love dearly, but we do not always believe the same things. Yes, Oprah has an Image- power if you will- but we all can take what she says and listen, but still have our own beliefs. She won't change anyone's mind, unless they allow her to- free will people, free will.....

Hmmm, I didn't realize that. I think of it as just another "self help" book. But I've not read it and don't plan to. I don't like most of the books Oprah recommends, though.

I for one may be a minority, but I really like Oprah and I love a lot of her shows. Many are very eye opening. I also love her new show, "The Big Give"
If more people kept it in their mind that it is better to give than receive, there would be a lot more happy people. You always have the right to pick and choose from what you hear, what it is you want to believe.............

UNBELIEVABLE! I thought your post had to be some kind of misinformation, until I watched the youtube video, and heard the words coming straight from Oprah's mouth. Until now, I was an Oprah fan. I am not watching her show any more, and will be sure to spread the word on what I believe to be false teaching.

I have been of follower of New Age for years. I believe in God. I think why we have so much problems in this world is because we are scard of other people religion. I think what every brings you closer to God is good as long as you do not hurt others or yourself. I am not defending Oprah (I watch her sometimes but am not a die heart fan) but the only times I like to watch her is when she has some form of metaphysical topic like the secrect. Right now I am reading The Millionaire Moses by Catherine Ponder she served in Unity churches. I also have a course in miracles. I read the bible often - if I don't prayer everyday I feel like something is missing. I think you should try to be more open and see what happens. You don't have to agree with that O says - but who knows you may learn something that could help you on life's journey.

I'm an Oprah fan, I've not obsessed with the women but I think she does a lot for people and she likes to make people think. I watched the youtube video and thought it was very "odd" because every clip of oprah was taken completely out of context. Anybody can take little pieces of what people say completely out of context and piece them together to benefit their situation.

I have nothing more to add to this thread except that the world is not going to come to an end because Oprah is promoting a self help book for her club book.

I'm fine with what she is doing. Everyone SHOULD examine and question their faith in order to grow and learn what He says is true. I think this is just another opportunity for Christians to search within themselves and trust in God and strengthen their own faith. No one will make you change is, so I don't think people should condemn her for discussing a book. Like PP mentioned, things can be taken out of context and she has done a lot of good in this world. For the Christian believers, though:

I totally agree with this! My sister and I have a saying for the two eras of Oprah:

"before oprah thought she was Jesus"
"since Oprah thought she turned in to Jesus."

I'm the type to watch Oprah once a month or less, but not anymore. It amazes me Oprah hasn't had any more backlash than she has. Usually the American public wants to see those at the top fall as quickly as they rose to the top.

I personally don't watch Opra but my mother does. I had heard about this from a friend and therefore had warned my mother to avoid those shows. I know that each one of us has been given free will to choose to believe whatever they want, but many forget that our creator is the one that gave it to us in the first place and those choices will be made known on the day of judgement.

First ~ I am a Christian and proud of it.

Second ~ I downloaded A New Earth by Eckhart last week from LimeWire.

Third ~ I admire Oprah for all she has accomplished but I don't watch TV so I don't watch her show.

I think this is legit as far as the "class" but I think it is just an attempt to sell books. Oprah and Eckhart Tolle Teach A New Earth in Live Webcast Classes

I have not read the hype, and at this point I won't since I want to make up my own mind on the subject.

I have only gotten through the first few chapters of A New Earth but so far it is not a "religion." The author willingly acknowledges and speaks of Jesus as well as Budah.

It speaks of looking at the beauty that we take for granted daily. Seeing things again as a child for the first time.

Most of it I just listen to with an open mind ~ I believe Jesus was the son of God, walked on this Earth and died for our sins. A book on tape isn't going to change that.

Every once in a while the author will make a point and you are taken back by the realization of it. Like he said that the translation and base of the word SIN means to "miss the point or mark". And it makes sense because what we consider to be sin is a shortfall where we let ourselves, others or the environment down. So we fall short of the mark or expectations. This one is so simple and obvious, but I never really thought about it.

It is in the SELF HELP catagory and I do think it is an addition to a religion, not a replacement.

But again, I haven't read or seem the anti-Oprah campaign and I am only on chapter 3 in the audio.

With all do respect- and not to step on yoru toes- but everything I need to learn I will learn from the holy bible. From what I have read about the book she is helping to promote I do not like nor agree with. I agree too that everyone has different beliefs- but I have a belief too and I have to stand up for what I believe in. Starting this thread was and is not to cause problems here on the board, but I found it to be very intersting and surprising- at the same time VERY alarming- therefore I felt a strong desire and need to post what I found out here. For those that believe in Jesus Christ I think this is information they will be interested in knowing about- that is all I wanted to do- bring it to the attention of others. Sorry if I have offended anyone- that was not my intent- my apologies.
