| having trouble with onions..
Can anyone tell me why the tops of my onions get really big but the bottoms don't.. i am getting ready to plant and want to get it right this time..thanks for any help.. oh i live in Texas.. central)..

Well, first, you ARE in Texas!! JK!! My Momma used to kinda step on the tops when they got to a certain size so that all the nutrients would go into the onion and not the top, which makes sense if you think about it.

I did onions from seed one year and had a good crop but 33% had what you described. Bought 'sets' from the store last year and had 80% that didn't work. The ones from seed that worked were oh so delicious though Not much help I know, sorry, I was told to fertilize more.
