LOL! I live very near there, I just read this article in the newspaper a couple days ago.

Oh my gosh! My husband sent me a link to this this morning from work. He felt that it is our duty, you know, for Jesus. I told him that clearly a man came up with that sermon series b/c he forgot to take into consideration one important week of those 30 days!!

That's what I told my DH when we were discussing it. If a woman had come up with that, it would have been - go for 21 days, stop for 7 days, go for 7 more days!

I think if a woman came up with it, it would have been, do it once, wait a week or more depending on the mood, and then MAYBE do it again. I work with SEVERAL women that think once or twice a YEAR is enough! I personally can NOT see DH and I doing it for even THREE days in a row let alone 30! Maybe 25 years ago when we were newlyweds, but not NOW!

God created sex for married people, what's wrong with preaching about it? We had a couple come to our church for a day-long seminar about marital happiness - one of their main focuses was on intimacy. It's really easy to get into a rut and not have any intimate connection to your spouse - and that's not what God intended! Ok, end of my sermon!

However, I think this part is contradictory: "Church member Tim Jones and his fiancée agreed to take on the challenge"

The pastor specifically said "Oh, and the flip side of the challenge? No rolling in the sheets for the unwed."



I don't think I could manage 30 days straight, personally. But 30 days of connecting closer with DH would certainly be a good thing!

only is Ybor City!!! It is like a year-round Mardi Gras or Key West's Fun Fest (<----Very wild, people paint themselves instead of dressing).

Ybor City is not a place you willingly let your SO go without you!

I caught that too! I know DH & I DIDN'T have physical contact for 3 or 4 weeks before the wedding. It was a kind of "get excited about each other" thing.

DH and I lived together for a 2 years, then we got involved at the church and I moved out. We were still a couple, but we agreed that we couldn't have sex anymore until we got married. That was 2 more years!! LOL (his fault for waiting so long to pop the question ) We did ummm... slip a few times, but not as many as you'd think! We learned not to be alone much at. all. during that time!

I watched the clip and the guy said he was going to ABSTAIN for thirty days, because the deal was if you are NOT married, it is NO sex for 30 days.

I just sent that link to my pastor ~ he is an awesomely gifted speaker, has hair longer than Jesus (in the back, not so much on top anymore!), a goatee, tattooes (Christ centered) and wears jeans and Brickenstocks to preach in. Once he opens his mouth, you never find yourself looking at your watch!



They also have their own rock band called The Holy Moly Band and the pastor plays lead guitar.

I did not say there was anything wrong with it....

I just stated I didn't know what to think about it....I am unsure as to what my vote would be...Sittin' the fence...inbetween opinions, know what I mean...


But having thought about it more my vote is no, I don't think he should be preaching it from the pulpit, BUT, I do believe maybe in a class for married couples only SO, he would not cause one to stumble as case in point Mr. Jones and his soon to be wed...

Because, no one can't say with all certainity that some of the unmarried couples are not laying in bed laughing at the fact that they are taking on the challege as well mocking the well meant sermon...
