So do you search for pics or just snowball browse around? I like how the pictures there are inspiring clear beautiful and creative but I dont get how you can be pinning for hours.... So you repin a pic you like to boards that you create so that you can browse through those boards later on? Don't you get bored? I think I'm missing some thing here can someone point it out?

My sil told me about this .. In too embarrassed to ask her do you need a FB acct to have a pinterest acct ? I don't have FB not really into that ...,

What I've found works for me is I log out of my acct so I look like some random user and then I scroll down the page and see if anything catches my eye. If I like something I right click, open in new window, minimize the new window and keep scrolling. Once I've gotten all the way down the page (it's a pretty long page) then I login to my acct and close that page. I then open each of those windows I minimized, click login (since I've already logged in it won't ask for my info again) it just asks me to "repin" that item, so I hit repin, select which board I want it to go to and go to the next window. This act of logging out seems to get me a better selection of items to pin than if I just scroll down the page while I'm logged in. Hope this made sense.

Now do I spend HOURS on there, not really, it might take me a good 45 min to get through one page and pin everything I like. What have I found..... I've found some neat DIY crafts, DIY cleaning supplies, recipes and exercise routines. I have already tried half a dozen new recipes most of which I really liked and I'm on an exercise program I found on here. I hope to get motivated enough to do my craft projects soon. There are some AWESOME ideas for EVERYTHING. And occasionally I'll search a specific thing.

I don't think I'm the craziest pinterer but I LOVE IT.

I don't know the answer to that, but if you do need it, you could always set one up with say your first name and last name initial and then just never really use it, don't friend anyone or tell them you have FB and it won't matter.

I also do not facebook, however I really wanted to get on pinterest, my sister told me that I could set privacy settings on fb so no one will see it even if they search by name. It works, I use it for pinterest and to print coupons only. Hth!

You don't have to have facebook, as far as I can tell you have the option to link so things post to your fb wall, but you don't have to do that.

Unfortunately, in order to sign up for Pinterest I need to have a facebook or twitter account. Pinterest wants me to sign up with link accounts.

I do not have a facebook or Twitter account. Guess I need to make a "dummy" facebook & Twitter account before signing up for Pinterest.

i dont have twitter, and my facebook and pinterest are not linked. i totally disagree with site being linked. i really dont want everyone to know what i am doing, when and where. when we link accounts like that, we give up all privacy.

I completely agree with you! There are times when I need to be on the Internet, but have no desire to be found, such as doing reseach for my DD 4-H project, gathering craft ideas for gift baskets, or locating tour information for Winter Jam 2012. The Internet is my encyclopedia, not my social network system for I still hand write in paper cards and snail mail them through USPS. Just because I am online does not automatically imply that I want to "chat" ; hence "hiding" my online status or completely disabling the IM from my computer altogether.

Yes, I enjoy keeping in "touch" with friends/family, but 678 people are not my friends/family! I neither want to be available 24/7 365 nor do I want people to know what I am doing every second of the day. I am not that important and neither is what I am doing. Nothing is so important that it must interrupt my quality family time...and doing research with my DD for a 4-H project, or gathering information for Winter Jam 2012 so that we can go together is spending quality with my family.

bethaliz6894, if you (or anyone else) is seriously interested in Pininterest, this is what I did.

1.) Create two new, but seperate email accounts. One for Pinterest and one for Facebook.

2.) Register on Facebook using your new facebook email account and set all of your account privacy/control setting to "custom" or "me only".

3.) Register on Pinterest using your new Pinterest email account and set your account privacy/control setting to "disable" or "unlink" your facebook link.

Yes, Pinterest members need to have a facebook account in order to register on Pinterest, but members do not have to keep it. Members can unlink their facebook account at anytime.

And since you have joined Pinterest using your "dummy" facebook account and set all of your Facebook account privacy/control setting to "custom" or "me only", all information gathered by Pinterest will be fake.

another thing i have noticed with facebook and other social web sites, people are so busy keeping in touch with their phones, they dont have time to have a face to face conversation. i will stop talking to someone when they grab their smart phone to text or check facebook.
