Someone hacked into my computer! It appears "they" were dropping off files of some sort into our my docs folder and someone else was picking them up. It started friday when I went to get something out of that folder and noticed a few files titled pos1, pos2,pos3 ect ect.... well I had trouble opening any of my own files, my mouse went crazy and was moving all over the screen and I could not get my computer to turn off. So I called my SIL and she told me to disconnect from my modem and don't touch my computer until she gets there. So she comes over saturday AM and we open the files and there are 8,000 more files all listed in sequential order!!! To make a long story short I ended up,after 2 days of trying to get rid of my new friends, completley erasing every thing on my hard drive, thank god I had it all saved on back up!
I feel so violated!
And now I am spending my day on the phone with micrsoft, and also getting new account numbers for everything! GOOD TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That really stinks! Thank goodness you had someone to help you fix it. I love the internet, but you never know who the bad guys are these days.

OH My! The disconnecting the internet was smart! I know whenever I have tech support remotely access my computer it is freaky watching the mouse move on it's own ~ even more freaky when you aren't on the phone w/ support!

That's aweful! I am so amazed how people can do ths. I'm so thankful DH is a computer guru and he can fix my computer when something happens.

SO when the mouse went crazy- was that the "bad" guys moving it on their end? Too bizarre! My DH will not allow me to do any couponing stuff on the home computer so I use my laptop- he said I kept getting viruses! Oh well, glad I have a laptop!

Wow- I had some weird Mail files on my computer once that kept showing up after I would delete them, but never have I seen my mouse move on it's own! So glad you got it straightened out!

No I could not see what was in them, the only info I could get was that they were all temp internet files and how big each file was. SIL says that in order to open them and read them we would have to have the software program that wrote them, and she said their is no way of figuring that out.

I am kinda' chicken to surf the web now! I did find out today that this happened because of my stupid ________ing brother (34 years old, and should know better!!) downloading stuff from limewire! I asked him not to use my PC to do this B/C so many people have told me how bad those kind of sites are........ Well he did it anyway and now look what happend! I have now blocked those sites from my computer and have added a password to log on to the internet!

Oh and I also had 3 trojan viruses in my PC too!!! IT too 2 days to get all of the junk out of my computer!!!!

Lesson learned: Never let anyone else use my PC again!

Oh and YES I do need a friday night chat room party!!!!!!

Oh yeah, Limewire, etc are HORRIBLE for getting viruses!!! Do you have a firewall and antivirus software on your PC?

Yes I had both!!! SIL jacked up my security setting for me so hopefully I wont have any more problems!

I got one of the viruses when I had to install my printer and I could not find the software that came with it, so I downloaded the driver from the web and it snuck in with that!
