Looking to buy a HP all in one Printer, Scanner and Fax. # 6500 anyone familiar with this or has one...Pros and cons please....thanks

I haven't used this one but I always check Amazon.com for reviews of printers & stuff. You get the real info from people that have bought them. I have 2 of the Brother laser all in ones and they work great. If the HP is a inkjet I would rethink getting it as they eat ink badly.

I think that's the one I have (6500A Plus)? I have the wireless version. I like it a lot; I've had mine for over a year now. I print a lot of IP's, so it works out better for me to buy the XL cartridges, although they do cost more up front.

SLance: what models of the Brother laser all in ones do you have? I've got a Dell inkjet, but never again. The darned thing uses up ink very quickly and won't take anything but over-priced Dell cartridges!

I will have to look at them tomorrow and Wednesday (they are at 2 of my offices) and I will let you know. One of them we have had for at least 5 years and it works great.

I just got mine last week, it was "clearanced at $97.xx at staples....same exact one. I LOVE it so far.....coupons come out *PRESTINE*....loving the wireless, very effecient!

How often are you buying ink? This one can get about 400 - 500 pgs right? Is that pretty accurate?

But one question, how do I turn off the color ink? I've already gone into the menu and into advance mode and have selected "Black Ink Only".....but they still come out in color.....know how to turn off the color completely? Im only looking to print B&W for Q's to save on from buying color cartridges.

Is there a place to hit "Save Changes," or something similar that you're forgetting to click?

I have a Dell inkjet and that darn thing eats in like crazy!!! I am going to price check this HP #6500A printer and let DH know I want it for Mother's Day or just because day..

There are some printers that you cannot turn off the color. I have also found that some coupon sites find a way to over ride your settings and suck up that color ink anyway.

The Brother laser All In One that has wireless that I use the most is a MFC7860DW and it is only black/white but works great.

I think that's where I go in to change my color settings. It sounds like for some reason, it's not saving? I had a similar problem on my old printer, but only on my laptop, not DH's. What operating system are you using?

Wow, I think that is pretty good! I print A LOT too.....and am glad to hear that you get that much out of it....that was my goal. Before I was using a non-wireless HP and maybe would change the cartridge every week, if that.

There is no "area" to save changes. I've just okay'ed it all the way through, maybe I will call HP.

I have an HP all in one and the single black cartridges are $13 or more. I just bought an ink refill kit for $11 on Amazon that does 10 refills. I was nervous refilling for the first time but it was super easy and the printing is perfect. I would suggest getting a refill kit for anyone who is sick of buying new cartridges so often
