I have an appointment next week with my Dr. It is a $50 consultation which goes toward your first treatment. The cost is dependent upon the area you want lasered. The bigger the area the more $$. It also usually takes more than one treatment. I am planning on paying $75 per treatment. (I already pay $40/month plus for waxing) Some places offer packages that bring the total cost down. --and I am looking at it as pay a little more now but less for the long term. My family doctor and a high school friend that is an OB/GYN just opened an aesthetics spa together -- they are sharing the practice and Christina travelled the US trying out treatments to find the laser they wanted for their practice. They will do laser hair removal, botox, Kinerase, Chemical Peels, etc.... |

I've heard that it does NOT work on blond hair.

do you know how many treatments it would take for underarms & bikini area? So, it would be roughly $75 per area per time?

I have had it done and am on my last treatment. I did underarms, modified brazillion and lower legs. It doesn't work on very light hair ~ tanned body parts are a :no no: I forget how much mine was, but it was right around two grand. I am a natural blond (although I get kinda dishwater). The hair on my arms is basically almost white ~ but shaved hair and pubic is darker so I was OK. Now it won't work on gray. I have been getting treatment every couple months for a couple of years ~ honest, years! I am thinking it takes up to 12 treatments. They use different lazers depending on hair texture and rate of regrowth. $75 per area ~ that would mean my treatments would be $225. 12 treatments at that price would be $2,700 ~ now I got the price 2 years ago and it was a bundle price. After my next treatment, which I have about 2 hairs left under each arm and about 4 on each leg ~ it would cost me $1 a zap for touch-ups. The ironic thing is one of their selling points is that you will save money on razors as if we PAY for razors anyway! It is very nice being able to put on a tank top with considering when I shaved last ~ in FL tank tops are pretty common.

I am going Friday -- and will let you know what my Dr says. My girlfriend goes to a different place and pays $75 for a facial treatment. Another lady in town does it and I have seen her price list -- for a package of treatments it was $300-500 for different areas. I think if you do two areas at a time they kind of have a sliding scale -- It would be cheaper in the long run to get both done rather than an idividual treatment. That is YMMV definately because each place has their own deals. I will post here or PM you what my Dr is charging. I have been hesitant to do it before because - I wanted someone under a Dr's supervision -- Now my Dr will be the one doing the treatments! One of the Dr's I work with occasionally had her legs done and they were smooth as silk -- she had them done six weeks before I saw her and checked out her legs. (NO funny business -- just girls stuff here ) I do think that darker hair works best -- but I am NOT a blonde so it does not concern me too much Well -- technically I am a partial blonde but pay my stylist $$ to make it that way! |

My DH had it done on his back. He has dark hair as you can see in the pic. It was quite expensive, and altough the hair is more sparse, t is still there and kind of abundant- I would never do it personally since I saw what happened with him. They guaranteed the work prior to doing it- after doing it and it not taking they gave him one free treatment, and then argued and said they did not gurantee it. He went to Sona Med spa in Georgia- hope this helps. If it were me, for the price I would go and spend the money on some other thing- or in my case some surgery to enhance my look- vain huh? !

I had a co-worker that was going through treatments for her jawline area. She'd go in at lunch once a week or month, I forget which. What I remember: She was a brunette. If you're blonde you have to spray some dye on the hair to make it darker. You can't tweeze/wax/shave or in any other way remove the hair during this time as they need it at least however long to do the treatments. Her chin, jaw, outer cheeks and neck were very red and blotchy when she'd come back to work. I don't know that I ever knew her cost, but she did it for more than a year and stuff kept growing back. So if you're blonde you have to turn the hair darker, and either way you have to walk around growing it out for a year or more so they can make it go away? Doesn't seem like that'd be worth if for any area that 'the public' see every day. |

I am doing my bikini and underarms and it is working pretty well. I did have some regrowth this month but I'm only on my 4th treatment so I'm guessing that maybe that's why. I have dark brown hair. They did tell me that blondes and redheads have harder times with it. And I have never had to have my hair grow out for the treatment. They want it clean shaven. I'll tell ya - my husband says it is the best money I've ever spent.
