I read the posts about the free plant at Lowes using a coupon that was included in the original post a few weeks ago. I decided I, too, needed a beautiful houseplant and couldn't be happier with a free one! When I went last night, the cashier had difficulty scanning the coupon and called a manager. He alerted her that a memo had been distributed alerting employees that this is a fraudulant coupon! I was humiliated and apologized for the misunderstanding. He asked me a number of questions, in part b/c I don't believe he thought I was telling the truth that I had no idea it was not "real." I wasn't upset with him as much as I was embarrassed at the whole situation and reminded of our need to make sure we are using legitimate coupons. Did anyone else have this happen to them?

Not verified...but my sister told me that Lowes has put a note on their website stating that many Lowes are having problems with this coupon...but that it is LEGIT!! They even post a number to give to any "questioning" Lowes managers to call to verify.

This coupon WAS legit. It was sent to members to belonged to a grow and something program. Lowes messed up and basically anyone could print it. They changed the date on the coupon in the computer and sent out a memo saying it was bad. It wasn't a bad coupon at all. Sorry you went through this. I never made it to Lowes.

I had similar problems with the coupon, but the manager didn't treat me like a criminal! I'm sorry you were treated like that!

It was a legit coupon and they are the ones that made the mistake of making it printable. That manager had no right to treat you that way.

When I went about a week ago, the incident wasn't the best in the world. I tolerated it, but it could have gotten embarassing. I AM signed up as a member of LEARN2GROW.COM which is sponsored by Lowes. I don't remember where I got the original coupon there or at AFC. I delete lots of my emails from L2G and others so it may have been here at AFC. I emailed customer service at Lowes explaining the experience I had with the coupon. I have not heard back from them and do not expect to. Lowe's is a NC company (I think) and I try to support them with my business. When we moved I ordered blinds for our entire house and other things as well. Major purchases. I felt that a $10 plant would be nice to have especially since I'd been a loyal customer of Lowes. I will continue to be their customer, but situations such as this do bother me.

I too signed up for the learn2grow before the coupon was even posted on AFC generator! I had no problems with the coupon! I'm sorry to hear about your horrible experience! That really isn't like Lowes to be that way!

I went to Lowes the 30th of Jan. and the only problem I had was when they rang the coupon up it said it had expired Jan. 18. The manager fixed this because my coupon exp. date was Jan. 31. Matter of fact my husband got a plant also. Spent a total of $4.36 ![]() |

I knew it was international but basically US-based. My DS & DDIL both have hardward stocks - one has Lowes and the other has Home Depot. They "compete" over whose stock is doing best. DH and I like to support NC stores and industries as much as possible. Wonderful that it has grown to the extent it has.

I went to loews and got a house plant for 9.99 the lady said nonononono then said grab some candy and ill fix it ok so I paid 26cents for candy and house plant

QUOTE] This happen when I went too- then the cashier was telling me I couldn't get it since I only got one plant and it was under the $10- she called the manager over and they went back and forth on what they were going to do about it. Finally decided just to discount the cost of the plant and I was on my way. UGH. My dh and kids were in the car waiting and waiting during all this. |

| Head Cashier at Lowe's Says Not True
I talked with a Head Cashier at Lowe's and she has never heard of a memo like that. They have been taking these coupons left and right at her store and she said there is NO MEMO to the affect these are "False Coupons". I'd go back to the Lowe's and ask to speak to the Head Manager and request to see "THE MEMO". |

The cashier didn't call the manager over, though, and didn't push it through. I just told her to forget it and didn't get the plant. I had been able to get 2 (one for me, one for hubby) already, so not a big deal. We DID sign up at the L2G site to get the coupons, though. I'm sorry that the OP was treated that way, though. You should complain to corporate about that! |

I also signed up with the website and printed my coupon before it showed up at AFC. I used my original and one from AFC. I had no trouble at all and the people here at our local Lowe's were very nice about it. I bet if you emailed corporate and told them the way you were treated they would try to make it right. Just remind them you can always take your business to Home Depot, that ought to get them.

I would write them a letter and tell them how you were treated. I think the manager was on a "power trip"
