A friend sent me this and I think it's a pretty neat idea.

PUT YOUR CAR KEYS BESIDE YOUR BED AT NIGHT

Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, everyone you run across.

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this:

It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your bat tery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the burglar rapist won't stick around... after a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there.....

This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime.

P.S. I am sending this to everyone I know because I think it is fantastic. Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone.

My Mom has suggested to my Dad that he carry his car keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there's a problem.

Great idea! Too bad mine has limited range and probably won't work from my room. I'll have to test it tomorrow when the babies are awake ('cause I sure as heck don't want to wake them up now with a honking horn!!).

A few years ago there was a crashing noise outside my house and someone threw rocks and garden geese through our vehicle windows. Wish I had thought of this.

Scary sidenote: a few months ago, my husband's car hood and front bumper cover were stolen in the middle of the night off his car in our driveway. We were up until 2 that night, by chance. We never heard a thing! Fairly often, I run back out in my jammies to grab stuff out of my SUV super late at night. It's wild to think who might have been out there!

This is such a GREAT idea, I just wish it worked for me!! I have tried it in the Target parking lot when I can't find my car and I have to be standing on top of the car almost!! Also, our BDR's are upstairs on the back......BTW, I am not a single lady but my DH is gone a lot as he helps out a friend of ours, sometimes out of town. I also want a Ball Bat even tho I have a CHOW!! They might do something to her and then I would definitely have to use a ball bat on them!! It's just TOO rough out there now!!

Hey if your ladies remotes are not working from too far away try a new battery in the lil remote. they take forever to die but as the battery gets weaker they usually wont work from as far away...

Great idea. I sleep with my keys near my bed so if something happens I know where they are.
