First, it was the Disney store. I went last night and find out that Lane Bryant and Lerner are closing immediately. K-B Toys is closing in a year as well as Bath & Body Works. The Suncoast store closed last year so there are no stores to buy cd's or movies at. The 1 nice restaurant that was there is closed. The Wachovia bank branch closed. Some other stores too that I can't think of right now. There are 2 other huge malls within 30 minutes of me but I loved the convenience of my small, friendly mall. At one of the other malls, I think there has been 2-3 shootings in the past year and I hate going there. This sucks!!!

The mall was probably going to raise their rent at the beginning of the year and they thought it wasn't worth it. Unfortunately, it happens alot.

Did the stores just close or are they moving? I know that a bunch of stores in our mall 'closed' but they actually moved to a new location. I think the price of rent has a lot to do with it.

That is funny that you mention that, my mall about 20 minutes away has an Old Navy closing, and that is a real bummer.

No, they are closing. I live in a small city in between 2 bigger cities. So I guess it makes sense in a business sense but it is just so convenient. I for one will not be going to the mall as much now.

Honestly with Kohls now I rarely go to the mall now any ways, I can get such good deals at Kohls I don't have a real need to go to the mall.

What kind of good deals do you find at Kohls. I used to go there when it first opened here a few years ago. During the grand opening, I remember them giving you $10.00 coupon for every $50.00 you spent. I ended up spending like $700!! And on my credit card!! That was way before getting smart and couponing.

They might be planning on all the stores leaving and remodeling the mall. They did that with North Hills here in Raleigh. It was a real dump for a long time and now it's *the* place to be. Very posh and upscale. But there's more boutique type places rather than the stores that were there. It does have a big 'ole Target, though!!! And the JC Penny's is still there.

They said the rent is way too high for the money they are making. I'm sure it won't be too long when the mall closes.

A lot of the stores at the Burlington Mall closed and went to the new Alamance Crossing. I think Sears is the only anchor now. I can't even remember the last time I went to the mall. There is a Lane Bryant out by the Target store. A lot of the enclosed malls seem to be an old style now and retailers are looking to the "village theme" where you are outside walking from store to store. I'll just stay with Target, I think!

Yes, that is how Friendly Center is. And while I love going there, it really sucks when it is rainy or cold out. Just not the same...

Lots of shootings and gang activity in our mall. Most stores are moving to destination shopping...open air shopping centers.
