Do any of you use an online banking company for your savings? Like ING, Etrade, etc. I am wondering how safe it is to put your $$ somewhere online w/o the ability to go to a branch.

my husband and i use sharebuilder..and we have never had a single problem with it..they also have very good interest rates..

I am on ing and I love it... I have savings and checking there.. but still have a local checking act at the bank... I however am on the net all day long. I work in front of a computer etc. so there isnt a problem for me to sign on and move money. I have always done banking online also so I am used to that aspect of it. It was a pain for me to actually goto the bank.

Anyway the savings is great.. It is still protected by FDIC etc. So it is safe in that regards. Now if I take money from my regular checking and xfer over to ING savings. It takes 7 days before I can touch that money again (time to verfiy funds etc).. but if I xfer back out. Say savings back to checking it is there by the next morning (as long as it is a business day etc... standard rules of depositing a check)....

My DH & I use ING.....best thing about it you can get a referral and make some money for yourself and the referral.
