Today I had to put my dog down. He just turned 15 on Dec 4, but could no longer stand on his own. This old dog helped me out through my divorce and many bad relationships. He was such a great husky. I can not stop crying. My kids are 1 and 2 and just do not understand what has happened and why mommy is crying so much............

oh no~~I'm so sad for you~~last October I put down my 12 year old black lab and a week later had to put down my 16 year old maincoon cat~~OMG it was the worst month of my life~~then in November I picked up their ashes from my vet at the same time and then received two sympathy cards from my vet on the same day. It hurts so much but does get better. I cried for so long because he had a tumor that just appeared in his nose one day and grew super fast. It was unexpected, but he finally told me that it was time. Our vet came to our house to put him down. I marked the rug that he was laid on when she injected him. I'll keep that rug forever no matter how mangled it gets. My heart goes out to you. Time heals everything.

I'm so SORRY to hear about this......... ![]() Here is a POEM that someone gave to me whem I lost my TENNESSE WALKER (MAGGIE) it helped me out so much when I needed it most, I know the PAIN your feeling now is real and that it goe's deep, but in time this day will pass and soon you will only remember the good times that you shared with this SPECIAL four legged family member. Rainbow Bridge![]() Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

I am sorry to hear that you lost your dog. I have always grown up with dogs and have two of them now. I know how hard it is to lose one. They become part of the family.

So sorry for your loss. We lost our beagle this summer and I still get sad when I look out the back window and don't see him chasing squirrels.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss -- I had to say goodbye to my beloved kitty of 13 years this past November and it was an extremely tough time -- someone gave me the Rainbow bridge poem too and it did help.

| Rainbow Bridge
tklein, I am so sorry for your loss. Our family just went through this in September with our almost 12 y.o. Brittany Spaniel. My 8 y.o. DD has a hard time with it off and on so I am grateful to those who posted the Rainbow Bridge poem. I know that this will definately help her (all of us really!). Big hugs to you and your family

Our pets give us so much unconditional love. They are a part of our families. My thoughts are with you and your family. I know how you feel. We just put down our 13 year old lab mix, Storm, on December 1st. I took all her pictures to CVS and made a photo collage. I framed it and set it on the bookshelf so that she would always be here with us. I still cry (like now) when I think about how much I miss her. |

Tklein, I know exactly how you feel. Last October my beloved chihuahua Lilman died. It was sudden and he was only 9 years old. I felt so guilt for a long time because the day he died I knew he was sick but I couldn't take him to the doctor because I had to work. My intentions were to take him the very next morning, but when I got home he was dead and had been that way for hours. My cat was a total wreck as well as myself and my mom. The cat meowed constantly, while my mom and I broke down at the drop of a hat. My vet and his assistant took care of everything for us which was a big help because we didn't know what to do. I remember as I was leaving the vet's office the assistant said to me, "we will see you again when you get your new dog!" I thought that lady was nuts, cold, and totally insensitive. My within a month I saw she was right! We got a new puppy because we coudln't deal with the silence and the cat wouldn't stop meowing. But within days of the new pup being around the cat stoppped meowing and we noticed that we didn't cry nearly as much. Although my Chichi has a few health issues she is such a joy and fun to laugh and play with. She doesn't bark much but she finds other ways to make her presence know. So I don't regret at all getting a new dog in such a short time frame. I'm not saying this is what you should do but, don't rule it out either. Now when I think about it I know that the vet's assistant was right. I'm truly sorry for your loss, but there are also so many dogs who need a loving home and loving people in their lives. A new dog isn't a replacement just a new addition to the family. Good luck and God bless! Last edited by tbaby; 12-27-2007 at 09:09 PM. Reason: Errors |

Sorry for your loss. Five years ago our black lab passed away at 15 yrs. She still shares her presence in the kitchen near the door with us. I found a lifelike 18" statue of her, a heart shaped name tag (machine at Walmart), put her name Dimples 1987-2002 on it. Sometimes we laugh when we are eating ribs remembering the special LAB LOOK and red tongue licking around her mouth waiting for the rib bone. |

I am SO sorry for your loss. At 15 years old, it would appear he lived a full fantastic life, if i had to guess. We have to be thankful for all they have done for us, and know they are off running free without any aches or pains...with many, many of our lost family members! ![]() I thoughts are with you!
