I woul dlike to POSSIBLY buy the Ipad for my DH or my daughter and son to share for Christmas. Do any of you know any great deals going on now or in the near future? I have read that it is not really going to be on sale for Black Friday either. Or, is there great deals to get large gift cards to go towards an Ipad? Any help is appreciated!

I was looking to see if anyone found any good deals on IPad also. I heard that TJ Maxx would have them on BF but not sure if this is true or just a rumor going around. I heard these were going to be on sale for $60 or $70 hard to believe that this would be true but I can always keep wishing.

I know you can do more on a laptop than you can on Ipad but you know how it goes kids want certain things. Plus I was thinking it would take less space to carry with them. They can put it in pocket and they are good to go.

My dh would like one too, but he said it's apple and they don't go on sale. He wants it because of the 3G technology where you can have wireless internet access without needing a provider or paying a monthly fee like you would with an iphone.

I'm guessing it's the ipad without 3G. My dh is wanting 3G, so he can sign up for it as needed. It's not a contract like phone service. You can start/stop for any length of time and there's different plans available.

The 3G is usable with the data plans from AT&T. They are 200 mb for $ 14.99 or 2 gig for $ 25.00 per month AT&T iPad Plans - Wi-Fi + 3G iPad Plans & International Data - Wireless from AT&T

At least is wifi, so you can connect wirelessly, and would only need the data plan in certain situations. I dunno. It's on my dh's wish-list. I think he would like an i-phone but with that there's the monthly cost.

Just an FYI: Apple products have an agreement with all stores that the stores MUST sell their products for whatever price they say. That's why they're the same price everywhere you go.

Now...there may be gift card deals that stores are offering as in incentive so that could be the only possible way you would get it "cheaper."

I would shy away from buying it at TJ MAXX. Yes, it's $100 less than anywhere else BUT they are not an authorized retailer so if something is wrong with it once you take it out of the box, you're SOL. I also heard that TJ MAXX bought the Ipads for regular retail and are selling them $100 below. That whole situation seems a little weird to me. Obviously they plan on making back that $100 through other sales but it just seems like a really silly move to make for a company.

Those are just my two cents.

Maybe they are thinking with the traffic that they will bring into the store with an Ipad (if they are really going to have it at that price) they will bring in so many shoppers that they will surely make up for it. I personally am not sure I believe they will have it at TJMAxx based on the other things you wrote. Apple does not go on sale- you are correct about that. But, If they are able to do waht you said, I think it is a rather smart move- provided it is not outside of what they can do per Apple.

I wanted to say I now have to IPADs, they were given to me. I really wanted one and my biological father surprised me with one (he did not know I had been wanting one). Anyway, he knew we were all trying to get to the Ipad first when we got home so he bought another one. I thougt I would give my opinions here about it for anyone wandering.
I personally love it. My DH, DS and DD love it too. I do take it with me when I go places. I use the notpad and calculator ALL the time and enjoy playing games or even typing out coupon deals I do not need to miss. It occupies my children when we are going to be doing a lot of shopping in the grocery store, when they would normally fight due to being in there so long. We even take it at times when we go to a restaurant and have to wait for a long time. I have downloaded free apps to help my daughter with her spelling and letter recognition and sounds and apps for my son with help in Math. They have also played checkers ( a free app) repeatedly to the point that my 6 year old is thinking several moves ahead- something she did not get initially. So I think it is helping her to think things through before she moves her man, not a bad thing I do limit their time (besides with 4 people and 2 Ipads if I don't I will never get a chance to play). JOKING. Anyway, it also gives me the opportunity to pick and choose applications that will allow me to manage my bank account, my calender, and so many other things. I do wish I had a case that held it that had straps. It is tough to carry when I have my purse and pushing a grocery cart. I am fearful of someone swiping it if I lay it down. I do sometimes put it in my pursee but it weighs it down. I will be looking t see if I can find some sort of purse meant to carry and protect my Ipad but allow me to put other necessities in it too. I should say I do not have 3G but do not really need it. Sure it would come in handy at the grocery store if I need to google a deal that I may have forgotten the info on. But overall it is not a big deal and we love them. Hope this helps someone!

My DH just got one a few weeks ago. We actually decided after he got it that it is going to take the place of his laptop. (We each had our own up until this point.) He had Wifi on it so he just taps into our home internet connection. I personally am so glad that it functions how he wants it to because his previous laptop was dying and he loves Apple products. I, on the other hand, don't care much for Apple products and find it hard to spend $700+ on a computer. Although spending $400 on this thing was a bit ridiculous, too. (We bought ours off of craigslist.)

You were not afraid to spend that on CL? I would be fearful of getting a product that was malfunctioning or stolen. Glad it worked out for you! I have wifi at home too so that is what I use on mine. I take mine everywhere though, so occassionally I want to use the internet out, but I always manage Glad you r Dh got one!

Well...if it would be me personally doing the buying, yes I would be fearful but DH knows pretty much all there is to know about technological things so he can always tell if something just isn't right.

We weren't worried about the stolen thing because it's generally fairly obvious to tell if something is stolen. It was a decent price for what we got but it wasn't too good to be true. (We see lots of stolen stuff advertised so it's pretty easy to tell the difference.)

I should have been more clear when I said pocket. I was thinking a pocket in a back pack etc. Not his pant pocket.
