holiday crafting... looking for ideas

the holidays will be here before we know it. i have an additional 7 people to shop for, this year. i'm looking for ideas of how you're turning your coupon finds into holiday gifts.

the items that i already have on my list are:

* love jar
take a pretty jar with a lid. fill with 365 slips of paper folded in half (pretty card stock) and on each slip you write something for that person to read. one slip/day for a year. i've seen them done about family memories and such. i'll be making it with reasons why i love my SO.

* food bag (i couldn't come up with a better name)
use a reusable shopping bag, or make one, and fill it with consumables. i'll be filling it with home-baked bread, homemade jellies, a metro card (he lived in nyc), smoked almonds, a book, cupcake in a jar. i've seen things like rolls of quarters for college kids and the like

i'll add more as i think of them.

what are your ideas?

I'm new here and not sure if there are ever good coupon deals on candy- but there's a really cute snowman Hershey bar cover you can print from your computer that makes adorable stocking stuffers. Here's a link: Laurie Furnell: Snowman Freebie...

There are lots of cute stocking stuffer candy ideas on the message boards of the site "PC Crafter". I've never made any, but I love looking at all the ideas people come up with!

Here's a link to a cute candy goodie box I had saved from a scrapbooking site. It's Halloween but could easily be change for other holidays. Halloween Goodie Box - Two Peas in a Bucket

Here's a quick craft made from bottle caps: Shannon Makes Stuff: Bottle-cap Snowman Ornaments

A friend of mine is making the microwaveable neck pillows/wraps out of polartec. You make a tube from muslin to fit around your neck, fill with rice, a little vanilla or lavendar essential oil, or buckwheat hulls. Sew closed and make a cover that fits out of polartec remmnants.

I make cocoa for 2 and put it into two mugs that I pick up at thrift stores...place in a basket with cookies. At our bake sale for my DD's school we make cookies and cocoa for santa like this...It is a huge seller.

Cloth Paper Scissors new gift idea magazine is great, and alot of ideas are available at their website as well as www.sommersetstudios.com and FamilyFun Crafts, Activities, Recipes & Other Ideas for Kids & Parents and More Family Fun
